Hi all, I currently have this card MSI Gaming N780 TF 3GD5/OC G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com and am looking to get another one as I now have the funds to do so. I game at 1440p so this is great hands down but some games still chug at that resolution so i'm wondering if the new 980 is worth swapping to instead as it has very low power consumption compared to two 780's and supposedly beats out a 780 Ti that is very oc'ed. I'm not sure if a 780 SLI is better than a one 780 Ti though so idk what to measure it off of. Any input would be helpful, and i planed on buying same card I currently have again if I go SLI. Also if I go SLI will my PSU be enough, I would think it would.
I have learned that since the launch 780's are now EOL so I will picking one up before they are gone as I already have one and selling other would be a pain.
With games that do support SLI, the two 780s will beat a 980 easily. Most games do support SLI, generally the ones that don't run well on a single card anyways.

yeah it is also 100 dollars cheaper, the 980 does have 4GB of vram though and some are supposed to come with 8GB, I will have 700 to spend for a gpu upgrade soon (selling old pc) so I might just wait and deal with it for now and then get the 980 TI or what have you. If I can get a 780 for cheap I might do the SLI though. The super sampling thing is cool but that can be done manually with today's cards anyways.

EDIT: Went to looking again for pricing and my current card dropped to 350 so I got a second one, hell tried to buy 2 so i'd have three way but my psu would not like that and does not have the physical cabling for it. So for 371 dollars I have two way SLI now and will report on the gain I get, again thanks for the input everyone price to value was to high to pass up.
I always prefer and recommend one GPU over two or more. Fewer bugs and hitches, fewer points of failure and not every game scales correctly when running SLI or Crossfire. 2 780's will definitely outperform a single 980, but the 980 is an absolute beast. It's good for everything up to and including 4k gaming.
Well I'm very impressed so far except for when using sli all other pci slots get turned off it seems and I can't use my xonar Stx atm. I'm pretty sure I need to change the gen on the slot or something so I can have it back but not sure how to do that. Crysis 3 runs beautifully though. So there's that lol.
