Whats an average temp for a graphics card to run? I'm just curious. I'm not having any problems or shutdowns, just want some knowledge.

I have a NVidia GeForce 9500 series with 1024 of ram.

thanks in advance!!!

(Meanwhile I'm gonna search some of the old threads and see what I come up with )

Mine idle's around 49-50 cel./121 F. I guess that's pretty close to yours...yet you have alot more "goodies" in your specs listed. I wonder if mines running a tiny bit hot for what I'm running......

hmmm......

the important temperature is under load, whilst playing 3D games for example.

start worrying if you approach triple centigrade figures.

use fan control software for your card or add/turn up case fans if you are bothered by your idle temps - i wouldn't be.

After cleaning off the charred dusts in the video card's fan, mine is usually at 66 degrees Celsius to 86 degrees Celsius. But the case is wide open during that time. I'm not sure if the CPU's fans are failing on me when the case is tightly closed, but if it is closed, the video card's temperature reached a high temperature --- 100+ degrees Celsius (before having the fan cleaned; I'm not sure what the temperature will be if the case is tightly closed after having the fan cleaned). I'm using the latest driver for my Nvidia GeForce 9500GT 1024 Mb Video RAM --- 258.96.

Take note, I'm living in a tropical country so I'm not expecting I won't have any temperature issues with the computer.

i don't know about nvidia cards, but i'm sure there is software available to control your gfx card's fan speed, so it runs faster (and hence cooler but a bit noisier) than default.

also i definitely think you should look into more case cooling - 100+ degrees is not good.

maybe rivatuner will work for your card?

i'm unsure as i've never used it.

I'm kinda worried myself about this CPU temperature of my computer. I'm actually using the PC with its case wide open at the moment. xD Since it's 'Ber' month now, it's not that hot and humid today -- it's actually quite cool in here. That said, the video card's temperature is at 70 degrees Celsius today, and the CPUs (AMD Phenom 2 X3) at 35 degrees Celsius.

that's nothing to worry about.

again, it's the load temperature that's important. worry if your phenom reaches 70C.

Your video card is very high, and the CPU is about right.

I'm running 30*C on my video card with fan at 1350rpm as a comparison. About 65*F in the house.
I'm no good at the conversion.
CPU 29*C.

My video card hits 57-58C running AVP benchmark maxed out on the settings.

I just ran Unigine Heaven benchmark and hit 53*C.

What could be the reason why my Video Card reaches a temperature like this? I'm still using the built-in fan with its heat sink of my video card. Should I replace it?

I'm having the same problem but a little Alarming & weird because my GPU is always @ 83-85*C at normal condition for the last 1 month CPU is always below 30*C so that's not my concern...i opened my laptop & cleaned the fans but no change in the temp its still 85*C at the time of this post...So i'm wondering when every setting is fine then whats the reason for this high temp of my GPU??? Is it time to say Goodbye to my old GPU & say Hello to a new GPU haven't drained it out too much because normally i don't play too many games & the games i play are like Assassins Creed (i know that it uses lot my GPU & CPU as well),Rise of Nation,AOE etc....
any suggestion i've used Speedfan but no respite in to this problem...Thnx :geek:

You asked for temps.

I had a 9500GT for a while.
Average temp seemed to be around... 60C if I remember correctly (which I might not). It hit around 80 at full load.

Laptops tend to pick up a lot of dust bunnies from using them on your lap or carpet or any cloth like surface. Not to mention they don't have a lot of clearance in order to circulate air.

I would suggest getting a can of compressed air and blowing out ali the ports, this should rid your self of heat generating dust and fibers.
And a cooling platform is always good idea. Just make sure you buy a quality one, and try and take a look at where the fans are on the platform, try and get one that will line up as close to your ports as posible. Since more heat equals less life span.
My 2 cents. Fabe
