I'm having troubles with video. below are computer specs.
I play command & conqueer tiberium alliances, running firefox multiple profile. 9 profiles running concurently with greasemonkey scripts in each. Irrelevent but so you know what is running at time of crash.

I've got MSI afterburner on. This helps the instant crashing as in computer shutting right down. When I have afterburner runing at default settings but set fan to 100% it seems to slow down crashing. When fan runs at 100% the temp is between 30-34c. when it shows on task bar upwards around 40 it is close to a crash. It seems when there is a load on a browser when doing a sim attack or multiple attacks is when it gets closest to crash. When fan running 100% it will start crashing browser profiles. without fan running ful as soon as there is a sim load or attack then the computer would just crash right off. I've got drivers all up to date. i've seen AMD site posting regarding issues and have used that new driver without any luck. I had trouble earlier when using computer as bitcoin miner. i ended up running with just a plain jane vid card and things stayed more stable. Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

It's not a temperature issue. ~40c is idle speed. A temp issue with that card would be 100c+

I I had trouble earlier when using computer as bitcoin miner. i ended up running with just a plain jane vid card and things stayed more stable.

What type of card? AMD or nvidia? If it was nvidia, it might be worthwhile downloading and installing Driver Fusion, un-isnstalling the AMD drivers, running Driver Fusion to clean all Nvidia and/or AMD entries and re-installing your drivers. Even if not a nvidia card, it's still a step worth trying.

After completely ruling out drivers - It's possible that the card itself is faulty or the PSU since you had issues with stability running bitcoin.

For the GPU, as a test - either downclock your video card in afterburner, or increase the voltage if you can.

For the PSU, check the voltage reporting in the BIOS. Short of using a multimeter, it's almost impossible to check voltages accurately but the BIOS reporting

Have you tried another browser for C&C?

What about proper 3D fullscreen games - any issues with them if you have any?

try to check if the Graphic card fan aren't burned, i also have the same problem almost changed my graphic card at least to a $41 card, but try to change the thermal paste. if it not work try to replace the fan with its card spare parts (just search the market) or if you din't find it just buy a CPU fan and stick it with glue to the old fan. Hope this help

hi there,

first time user here. not sure if i can wade in or not. but i am having the same issue with BSOD happening. i have bluescreen reader and it keeps saying it the issue is coming from the atikmdag.sys. i brought this card brand new in april this year 2014 after my 6900 died on me. i am not very computer savy so any help would be very much welcome. i have uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled a few times now. i have also removed the catalyst control centre as someone said this could also cause issues. ive spoken to the people i brought the card from but would have to be waiting without a comp for 5 weeks or so would really prefer to have tried everything else first. let me know if you need any more details from me.

thanks again

Quick update on this. Yes stuill having issues. What I've done
I swapped out the vid card and put in the plain jane card. It is running 69-71c as someone said earlier was avg op temp. I still get complete sys shut down with no warning.
In bios I went from settings in turbo over clock mode to the far left i believe it's energy save mode to reduce possible temp issue if it is cpu causing this. it did delay the inevitable crash but it still happens. Have spoke to several tecks, different ideas from all.
teck 1. looking at spec sheet for MB, he says the kingston mem are not listed on compatability list. that would be a spendy error to fix but my question would that cause instand OFF of machine
tech 2 suggusted heatsink on cpu needs to be on tighter. (i'm thinking on this one)
tech 3 said unload all drivers and try with the basic MS drivers. I have done this. uninstalled catalist. running this way currently but still the instant OFF when it crashes.
I've been monitoring the GPU temps and CPU usage. a few times when loading screens the cpu usuage jumped into high yellow maybe touching red but came back down and usually sits around 11%. the GPU temps as said above apear to be very normal and far within operational temps. I even installed another fan in case just to make sure of more airflow.

I tried playing railroad tycoon 2nd edition. it ran fine except when i had a massive massive rail system and full graphics it locked up.
I'm going to try the heatsink/paste route here in the next few days. I'm really thinking it's a CPU heat thing and the board sensors are shutting down for safety. The board has already been swapped out so I know it's not a board issue. Also in regards to the cheap plain jane vid card, it was swapped out as well as the power supply. So fingers at this point are limiting the possibilities. Once this get figured out it'll be a sweet machine. I just hope i live long enough to see it lol

try to check the CPU parking on regedit. i also have this issue once its because the 2nd CPU parked and cannot be unparked by system because of the registry malfunction. better un park the cpu by regedit or any program that can unpark cpu.

I had the same problem, and fixed it this way

*Ignore the subtitle of this comment* Depending on which model of the r9 270x you have, it could be the core clock. I know that for instance the sapphire r9 270x it comes stock with a core clock of 1070, even though the core clock of the 270x should be 1020, and when the clock was turned back it worked perfectly. I may say try tuning back just the core clock alittle bit and see what that does for you!
