Graphics Card Recommendation?

Could anyone recommend a good (preferably free) graphics card for my PC (Win 7, 64-bit)? I just removed the NVIDIA, as I felt it wasn't doing anything and was very displeased with its performance.

I am assuming you are joking about the free part... Either that, or you have no clue what you are talking about.

Anyway, how much are you willing to pay for a graphics card, and what would you be using it for?
