Hey guys, having this issue where a Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7332 has all kinds of weird graphics issues but only on startup. After the Desktop starts to show it all goes away and does not come back.
I moved the RAM around and it seemed to get better, booted about five times without graphics issue before it started again. I tried RAM in different slots and only one chip at a time. Now I have only the One 4GB Chip in the First Slot at the top because the Slot in the bottom where this chip was seems loose when inserting the chip, meaning it slides in really easy, no resistance.
I thought maybe something with the BIOS, so went and got the newest BIOS. The really weird thing is, the BIOS on the Laptop is newer than the one I downloaded from Toshiba using the Serial Number on the Laptop: 6.30 vs 6.10. So the installer won't let me install it. I think somehow the wrong BIOS was flashed to the laptop, but that is only a guess and don't know how that would have happened. I went in to the little Toshiba Driver Installer and there is nothing for BIOS Flashes there, so that could not have been the issue I don't think. I can link to a video also if you think that would help, which would be the best place to upload it?
The Toshiba site is confusing, now I see more BIOS Updates:
One in particular as the newest: BIOS version 1.60 for KIRAbook (PSU8Sx) Version: 1.60, Posted Date: 2019-01-10, Release Date: 2019-01-10
But what the heck is KIRAbook?
This is the one I've been trying to install:
File: skbqv610.exe (18.15M)
Version: 6.10
Posted Date: 2012-10-29
Release Date: 2016-08-24
Then there is this one under the second entry:
File: skbqv120.exe (8.56M)
Version: 1.20
Posted Date: 2012-08-14
Release Date: 2016-08-24
Just noticed some settings in "Power Options" were not right, and turned Off "Fast Startup"
1. It was set for Password on wake for one.
2. Some of the other power options were not how I like them, so turned them all to Never.
