GTA IV Modding

Recently i've been keeping up with "Post your game screenshots" and after seeing MoeX screenshots of GTA and noticing at how amazing the game looks when modded, i decided to buy the game and have a play through on PC (completed on xbox) and mod it.

And i just thought it would be useful to start a GTA modding thread as there has been alot of discussion about modding the game

I havent got any mods running on my yet as i only just recently upgraded my system, but i have it installed and plan on modding in the next couple of days. i've already got a collection of cars which i've downloaded and are ready to put in but i plan on installing ICEnhancer.

Is there any other mods anyone could suggest?

Well I would suggest a weapon replacement and sound replacement for weapons. I currently use these and they are a big improvement over default weapons.

Replacing nikos stock clothing textures since they are kind of boring imo but all preference

Anyways take a look on that site, found most my mods through that site, has some of the gta iv mods around imo.


Going to need a tool like Sparkiv to replace the models,textures,animations and sounds.

Ask me if you need any help, I use to be heavy into modding GTA games like gta san andreas(all time fav game to mod) and gta iv has caught my interest lately into modding it more heavily instead of lightly like before.

preview of sound mod , the one i use atm. Will let you know if I find somthing better. Sounds a bit differnt from bf3 so pretty sure it's not exact and they just use that name but sounds good anyways.

the game wont look like my screenshots only if you have the game IV on patch 1.0.4.0, ill give you the links to all the mods or maybe ill just upload all of them in one file , so i just need to know whats the version of your game?

About the cars : the cars are the main pain in modding this game some cars crash the game some crash the game after couple of minutes,some cause missing or pop-in pop-out texters so making a good car pack needs time it toke me months to make my car pack had too test them one by one to make sure they wont make problems so if u start using the cars u should test them one by one or i can upload u my car pack lemme know how u wanna play this

Thanks for the advice, i only just downloaded it from steam, which i believe 1.0.7.0. I do plan on gettin the 1.0.4.0 as it looks much better imo.

as with the cars yese i am planning on changing all the cars. Thanks for the heads up about the possible problems, ill test test and test again.

Has anyone used the "No vehicle grain" (i think thats what its called) Mod?

回 Saving You Time i Uploaded My Car Pack 483mb with weapons plus i added a machine gun and tweaked its settings to make it fire like a machine gun since Iv has none, All cars are Modded and high quality with number plates and cause no problems

I now have 1.0.4.0 with ICEnhancer loaded with the Real traffic mod and script hook loaded and working fine no problem.

Quick question though if you don't mind how would i go about putting in the car packs you uploaded into my game?

U welcome How is the game graphics looking ?
just unzip it and copy the files inside the folder to your main IV folder

No problem mate same thing, unzip it and paste the files in your main Gta Folder

Note !!!! dont use my config its set on my screen settings plus as your spec's say you dont have a nvidia vcard so ill upload you settings based on your specs

Did you make a commandline line ? If not go to Notepad and put the following codes in it :

-memrestrict 2684354560
-noprecache
-novblank
-norestrictions

Then just save it and call it commandline and paste it in the main IV folder

I have hit a slight problem - i added the Car pack one to my game directory - game loaded fine, spawned a car started driving and after 15-20 seconds the game crashed - cant remember the error exactly but something like SMPA60. Confused me a little bit. I changed back to the original file and all is well again. Do you know why this could have happened

Did you make a clean copy of the game before adding the cars ? i never had any problems with my cars, how about your save game is it a clean save ? meaning that if you have any cars saved in your garage the game will crash

Im kinda sure that its your save game i uploaded you my save game with no cars in any of the safe house's

make sure that u delete the folder in
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games

and use xlive

This is the location for the save game
C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames
