Solved GTA IV still lagging...

ahh... just bought the game, patched it ( thru steam ) and it still lags... when im on foot i achieve up to 15fps and in car up to 12fps.... i notice that it doesn't drop or go up.... the only places that it doesn't lag in are at home and at the beach ( i get more than 40fps there ) i also tried setting my graphics to minimum and making it on high priority but it didin't help... also i can run crysis 2 on medium graphics with no lag at all... windows 7 64bit nvidia gt 240 graphics card, 8gb ram, Inter celeron cpu E1500 @2.20ghz and 2.2ghz. Thanks!

Yeah I have this problem try downloading the latest patch from Rockstar. Or if else fails check it here:

Only my cpu fails strange....i know its very old but even newer games run way better than gta iv... also it's

Recommended: 2.4 GHz You Have: 2.2 GHz so it should run on lowest quality with no lag, am i wrong? ill try to overclock it

@Itjust Hmm, it should be able to run fine your just a bit below. Tryed turning your graphics down? Try running it in a window it normally helps or if your prefer running it full screen turn the resolution down to somthing like 640x480

yeah, it does help a bit... goes up to 28fps, but i'd rather not play at that resolution

Also, i tested Mafia II now and its at minimum too, though i can play it on maximum setting without overclocking just fine, with no lag at all! same with MW 2 i always have 70+fps on it and it says that i can hardly run it ( im playing on maximum graphics )....never goes below 45...

it's a mid-end card, but how can i run all the other games on maximum setting then? it's impossible that i can't play gta IV with my specs...

GTA IV Requires a good graphics card. If you do decide to upgrade make sure your computer will be able to handle it

ugh, but even that site says that my graphics card is compatible, also it's the 1gb video memory version ;(

it's 1360x768, but the only thig that seems to help is making all the graphics to the lowest and the resolution to 800x600, but then it's not ven fun to play and even then i only get 28fps maximum, even though im only using ~200mb/~970mb video memory

Yeah some games just look horrific when playing on very low graphics . Thats all really I can suggest, maybe window it? I'm sure somewhere on GTA IV menu you can tick Run in window. That sometimes helps. When I used to have a rubbish pc I used to put my games in a window form so they'd run better.

The Celeron is a weak processor, that's where the issue is. It has a small Cache and is not made for gaming.
GTAIV is CPU intensive, the reason why Dual-Core is required and Quad-Core is recommended.

To run in windowed mode:
Right click desktop icon and select "Properties";
Look tor "Target";
At the end of that hit the space bar and put "-w" then click "Apply" and "Ok";
After that it should run in windowed mode.

I have a 8 core AMD processor and a 2GB Radeon HD 6670 graphics card, I am also running windows 8

and I'm still getting lag from GTA IV but only when I play on medium or higher graphics.

I don't know weather it is my graphics card or other because I'm not sure about how good graphics cards are???

please help
