Hi guys, i was wondering about buying a new card recently, I am really on budget so i thought that an SLI deal would be nice with my present card (gts 450). I am playing crysis games recently... So far this is the best review i found, it shows almost 100 percent difference after putting the card in sli.
Do you think that there is that much of a difference or the difference is not that big? I have a decent cpu for these cards, so that might not be a problem.
And if you think that this deal would be ok, please suggest a brand alongside with my ASUS gts 450 direct cu, because i've read that the best is to buy indentical brands for increased reliability. In the picture of this review there is an asus and an msi card, shall i get a very very basic gts 450 with no case at all just a fan (from msi) or would it make any difference to go with a neet design card?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Personally, I'd go with an msi GTX 470. I've had a couple of msi cards and they've never let me down. Their Twin FrozR series are also great at keeping cool.

It all depends on the brand of 470, alot of them ran very hot. The 560 is newer technology, if you can stretch to a 560ti then they are on a par with the 470 but run a hell of a lot cooler. I cannot comment on the sli of the 450 as I have no knowledge of it.

Exactly. Which is why you should consider an msi GTX570 Twin Frozr II. It'll keep your GPU much cooler than if you got say an EVGA or ASUS card.
MSI Global – Graphics Card - N470GTX Twin Frozr II

And even though the 560 and 560Ti have newer technology, the 470 still outperforms them in most if not all benchmarking as well as gaming.

I would recommend you to go with GTX 560 rather than GTS 450 SLI.

GTX 560 is better thank GTX 470 and has the power of 2 GTS 450.

Thanks guys the help, it was much needed :)
I've decided to go
with the 'MSI GeForce N560GTX-M2D1GD5 1GB GDDR5' but i will get it only for xmas so there is quite a lot of time to think it over...
However i noticed that the gtx 560 non ti and the gtx 460 have the same amount of shaders. Is there any physical difference between them? or they just turned up the speeds.
I guess that they have replaced the memory, but not the core...
I have no money for a TI version, otherwise i'd go with that.

Take a look at the below benchmark site.
PassMark Software - Video Card Benchmarks - High End Video Cards

The GTX470 outperforms most other cards, no doubt about it. As for cooling, as I said above, you can always get an MSI Twin Frozr edition which will keep your GPU very cool.

But if the GTX470 is too expensive, the GTX560 is also good. I have that exact same model that you picked out and am loving it. The reason though it is nearly the same as a GTX460 is because that's how NVIDIA intended it to be. The GTX560 was made to be nothing more than a factory overclocked GTX460.

Personally, I would recommend buying a GTX560Ti as they are only about fifty bucks more expensive and as you can see on that benchmarking site, quite a few ranks up. The GTX560 is 15th while the GTX560Ti is 9th.

If $50 is too much, at least go for the Twin Frozr edition of the MSI GTX560 which is only ten or so dollars more and gives you icy cool temps. This being said, only get it if you're planning to overclock your GPU as there's absolutely no point in getting Twin Frozr cooling if it's not going to be used.

Even the N560GTX-M2D1GD5 is a great card and it should do you well for another couple of years.

Yes meanwhile I was looking around the ti versions, and thought that it would be better, otherwise i'd go with the gtx 460 and oc it myself. For me the gtx 470 costs less than the gtx 560 non ti, theres a little difference only in the price, but the gtx 560 ti costs more. But as i was looking at the number of shaders and the price of the gtx 570 I thought that the gtx 560 ti is still a good deal.
As i mentioned this deal is really months away from me :D

It's also worth noting there are absolutely loads of Pre overclocked 560ti's available and they are fantastic overclockers even if you buy a stock one.

I have a mild overclock edition, If you look at the passmark performance test results on the link Jaidyn posted above I can tell you how mine performs on that chart (I purchased Passmark performance test a while back so am always testing things out on it).

Out of the box mine scores 3250, with a medium to high overclock on top it scores 3600 and with the most extreme overclock I managed 3886.9.

Cheers

Paul.

One thing you have to bear in mind is the score for 3D graphics on passmark performance test is very dependant on the rest of the hardware you have especially the CPU and what that is clocked to.

I am running what I class as a medium overclock on my cpu at the moment (4.6ghz) as it will run happy at that all day long with low temps.

At that speed I can score 3500 for 3D in passmark with the 560ti set at - Core frequency 950mhz and the Shader processor frequency 1900mhz

Edited to add, I cannot remember the frequency for the Graphics when I ran it to the max , it was just to see how far it would go but the cpu was at 5.1ghz

Cheers

Paul.
