lol, damn I really need to stop posting before I have my coffee in the morning this is the second day in a row I've done something stupid like that in the morning.

Anyhow, the site is good, just use the right compares.
I was basing my information off my own card. I do that sometimes, I see 580...
Anyhow the 5 series do still have more streams and pipelines in general and pushing through the massive shading in the newest games requires them to be there.
For 1080p to go smoothly it seems you want around 1440 pipes. That's what my 5850 in the machine in the other room has and it just manages with newer stuff. Will even choke a little on the most demanding stuff like arkham city with dx11 on.

a friend of mines was telling me that the only thing that the 560 has better is lower power usage and lower temperatures, cuz the 480 has more memory and would perform faster.

In real world numbers the 480 would seem the better choice.
I would say by about 30%

Bang for your buck in that performance realm would probably be the ati 6950.
The only reason that wouldn't be an option for you is if you are die hard for nvidia, or are really into having physx.
GeForce GTX 480 vs Radeon HD 6950 – Performance Comparison Benchmarks @ Hardware Compare

the 6950 has those all important pipelines/streams for the massive texel/pixel rates
that really make a huge difference in dx10 and dx11 games.

I know the 5850 I have in my other box does quite well all things considered, and the 6950 is superior to it in every way.
http://www.hwcompare.com/6133/radeon-hd-5850-vs-radeon-hd-6950/

If you really are dead set on nvidia my advice is to give them just a little more time on their 6 series cards my instinct is they are not very far off as nvidia will be answering to the ati 7970 shortly. It's always the way it has been between the two companies. Once the 6 series are released you'll have much less trouble finding a 5 series in the price range you need.

Otherwise I would suggest the 6950.

I think that GTX 480 is better. It uses a bit more power, has a loud fan and runs 5C-10C hotter though. This gets it some criticism, but it does output more FPS (15-20%+ ).
The GTX 480 is the superior card. More shaders, more RAM.
Both are good cards, but a 480 at the price as a 560 is a good deal.
