Which is faster? Would an upgrade from my 285 be worth while?

Yes I'm confident saying a 560 is a better card than a 285 worth the bump in cash that can only be your call.

Ya, thing is the 285 still kills the 560 in Memory Bandwidth...

Then score a similar 285 on the cheap and SLI the bad boys?

Think this should answer that question,

AnandTech - Bench - GPU11

It's the slightly faster GTX 560 Ti and not the GTX 560, but the non Ti won't be that much slower.

One thing you will find out soon or later, after living long enough is that memory bandwidth means NOTHING AT ALL. :)

This is a great example. And the insane levels people go to tweak memory to gain improvement in a memory bench mark score pale massively to stepping up the CPU by a single Mhz. You just want your memory STABLE and running at the most efficient clock speed for your CPU and memory controller. The /actual/ memory throughput is something that is truly never pushed in any real world desktop computing of any kind. Hell swapping from PC800 to PC1600 ram would barely be noticeable 99% of the time...

Been that way for 20 years of PC use now and I seriously don't see that changing any time soon...

I have purchased an ASUS 560Ti and I would not have it any other way, I get a fairly solid 60FPS in Just Cause 2 with only minor performance tweaks (AA and AF @ 4x) from the Highest possible settings. the only issue I found it that the card requires a PSU that can provide over 50amps on the 12v rail. This is only a problem if your on a budget or cant afford the cost of running a small microwave all day.

I got the Silent one and it requires two huge case fans to disperse the heat. (excellent space heater in winter)

I have an msi GTX 560 and it's great! Sure, I've only run Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II on it so far, but it's still good. :p IMHO, the 560 is similar to the 460 (which is quite a good card I hear), but with a higher clock speed.
