Hello!
I have a new desktopcomputer with an Nvidia GTX 560 graphic card that I today tried to connect to my TV, an LCD 42 "LG42JH4020. Bought HDMI cable and connected.
The image that is transmitted to the TV is a "frozen" image of the desktop background (= HDMI cable works?). It can not be manipulated more than that. Tried with different drivers (285, 290, 295) which does not affect the result.

(On my erlier computer there where never any problem to transfer the image to the TV, thought that was with the VGA-port.

I have tried via the 3 HDMI ports available on your TV

Any suggestions?
Thank you!

It sounds like it's treating the hdmi port as some sort of extended display area.
The way to fix this is inside the nvidia control panel.

Under display properties if you click identify does the number 2 appear on it?

i know i'm late to this party, but i think what you were seeing is the extended desktop, you can move your mouse to the right and it will display on the TV, if you were to take a screenshot while the display is extended, it will show 2 displays, one with a taskbar and one without ;)

yeah I already pointed him to the proper place in the nvidia console to mess with his multiple display settings.

He apparently decided to go with the clone function, which is actually what I did when I had my monitor and tv plugged in beside each other. All the actual extended profiles... just didn't seem to work in that situation.

Both nvidia and ati have made it very simple to setup multiple displays through their tray tools. If you are an ATI user that chose just to install the drivers. You will need the catalyst control center for proper 'eyefinity' support.
