Guest wireless

I recently upgraded my modem to a Netgear DGND3300v2 which has amongst a host of other features, the means to allow guests to login to your home wireless for using the internet but not actually be able to be on the network however because I chose to use the "wireless station access list" whereby access to all the computers in the house is only allowed by mac address, the guest wireless doesn't connect I'm assuming because its address is not recognised and the only way I could get it to work was to temporarily disable this feature. I would have thought the guest login would be separate from the access list and allow any mac address ? Am I setting these up wrongly - there doesn't seem an obvious way to set them independently.
Win7 64bit premium OS.

Any help appreciated.

You'd get far better options and bandwidth throttling with a Draytek or Mikrotics router.

I hate to diss' on any particular brand, but with Netgear you need to cross your fingers and pray, profusely!

Don't forget that MAC spoofing is simple enough and you shouldn't rely on it to manage a guest portal.

I have a Netgear WNR3500 & have several PCs & laptops connected physically & wireless. I provide wireless access to guests that stay at my short-term rental unit via the same wireless router. All of my devices are on the same workgroup I have designated. My guests have access to the internet, but cannot access the devices in my workgroup, since they are not in that workgroup. I don't use a wireless access list by mac address. I do set up QOS priorities highest for my devices, since my bandwidth is not the greatest!

There are probably better ways to keep my shared data secure (I'm open to suggestions), but this method has worked for me.
