I'm on Windows 7 64bit

I'm having trouble with an internal Western Digital Black 2TB hard Drive after I installed the following:

I purchased a PCIe card (to add additional ports to my PC) , installed it in a PCIe slot and connected it to 2 (new) SSD's I was also adding to my system. (Samsung 1TB ssd and Western Digital Blue 500GB ssd)

I also purchased and added a 7 port USB Drive card in another PCIe slot and installed its driver

Windows began running a CKDSK on 2 of my already installed internal WD internal Hard Drives. It did this repeatedly after I shut down and restarted a few times.

I removed the 7 USB card and cable from the PCIe slot in case it was causing issues.

Windows continued to do CKDSK on the 2 same Drives... and eventually changed one (G:) drive's name to "Local Disk"... and it is not accessible now.

Today on start up Windows ran CKDSK again on the (G:) drive and gave me a message "Invalid Security ID" and ran for about 15 minutes going thru all the files on that drive. At the end it is still called "Local Disk" and is inaccessible.

When I click on "Computer" to see a list of my drives this is the current status:

The 2 NEW SSD drives I installed are listed in Device Manager but are not listed otherwise (I assume they need a drive letter selected)

The G: drive (now called "Local Drive") is listed onscreen but is not accessable

All the other drives are visible and working)

Device Manager says all drives are operating correctly

Any ideas of what happened to cause the problems with the G: Drive (it's a Western Digital Black 2TB internal hard drive) and any suggestions on how to troubleshoot or recover whats on it?

Please note: If I disconnect the 2 NEW SSD's and remove the PCIe card and restore the machine to a Restore Point would this get me back to where I started or cause more problems?

I'm obviously not tech savvy and I appreciate your patience with my description. Any and all help appreciated

Here are 3 screen shots showing the hard drives. I have not done anything with the 2 new drives hence the window re: "Initializing" in the 1st photo

The problem is the G: drive which is listed as "Raw" and apparently shows nothing on it. This drive hard a number off video files on in before the problem.

Let me know if you need anything else or have suggestions... thanks!

Did you install a driver for the PCIe cards at all? Does device manager have any yellow exclamation marks?

You seem to have a very weird setup. Drive 0 should be the drive with the OS and would or should be drive C. What drive is Windows actually one?

Do you have an NVMe drive installed?

Is that RAID software or hardware?

The only driver I installed was one that came with the 7 port USB Card (it is a driver to allow the card to work with Windows 7. Apparently the card will find a driver on its own in Windows 10) I did not install a driver for the PCIe card as none came with it nor were there instructions to do so. I have removed the USB Card and its aux power cord from the machine but have not removed that driver.

I didn't see any yellow exclamation marks. Device Manager (under the "General" tab) said "Device is working properly" when I would click on any of the drives

Windows 7 is on Disk 4 (in the screenshot) and it is Drive C: It is on a 500GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD

Disk 0 and Disk 1 in the screenshot are the 2 new SSD drives I was trying to install. Apparently they are not initialized hence the message in the 1st screenshot.

I o not have any NVMe drives installed. Only Western Digital Black hdds and SSD's.

The Raid 0 is hardware - 2 WD Black hard drives

Drive "K" is a portable external HD I have plugged in to a USB port

The Hard Drive Setup (as listed by Disk Manager and appears in the screenshots) is this:

Disk 0 - new SSD drive
Disk 1 - new SSD drive
Disk 2 (G:) - is for Video Files
Disk 3 (H) - is for Photo Files
Disk 4 (C:) - is the Windows 7 OS
Disk 5 (D:) - is a Scratch Disk for Video & Photo Editing
Disk 6 (F:) and 7 (F:) - Are a Raid 0 Array
Disk 8 (K:) is a Passport External hard drive plugged into a USB port.

Drive G:'s name was changed to "Local Disk" (by Windows after the CKDSK problem arose) and is now listed as RAW and in inaccessible/corrupted.

CKDSK also ran thru Drive H: and didn't change its name but the files on it are corrupted as well.

The RAID 0 drives, and C: drive seem fine.

Thanks for helping with this. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi
RAW usually means the disk is unformatted. The fact that Disk 2 still has label G: could indicate that disk partition table has become corrupted, and when Disk Management cannot read disk, it reports it as RAW.
If only Partition Table is corrupted, then your data could still be safe on disk. There are several tools that can repair a corrupted partition table, such as AOMEI Partition Assistant or DiskInternals Partition Table Recovery or EaseUS Partition Recovery .
Do you remember if disk was formatted as a GPT partition or a MBR partition?

I don't recall if it was GPT or MBR partition. The machine was set up by someone else.

I have a tech savvy friend running the EASEUS program as I type this. Hopefully it will recover everything.

Any ideas on what might have caused the partition table to get corrupted? The H: drive retained it's name but it's files are corrupted as well. As far as I know it was only these 2 disks that were corrupted (I saw CHDSK running thru both G; and H: drives on the initial startup)

Thanks for your help on this. I appreciate all input
