Which is better (1) 1tb or (2) 500gb hard drive in a raid config

Depends upon what you want to accomplish. Personally, I don't use or like RAID 0 setups...since your data is split across 2 drives...so if either of them has a problem you lose all of the data. However, if you just need raw file copy performance and manipulate large files on a regular basis...then RAID0 configs can provide a significant improvement.

Raid

THere is no question that 2 drives are better than one for speed (using raid 0). On the minus side, 2 drives doubles your chance of losing data. With raid 1, you cut your chance of losing data in half, with a very small performance penalty, but you use twice as much storage. You need more than 2 drives to use higher raid settings. Thanks guys i have been messing around with computers on small scale i know the basics but i decided to built a nice computer for my self i do alot of 3d rendering and 3d modeling i could not justify spending the money they wanted for a workstation from ibm i have inproved the speed but know there is more i can do.
I am realizing there is much i dont know but there are alot of poeple that will help you learn So THANK YOU ALL
