Im trying to recover someones hard drive and it shows up in my computer, and in bios if i go to the boot menu but i cant get anything off of it.. i really want to get some pics off if theres a way i can ..

If it can be read, make an image of the partition. You can do that from your elevated command prompt. The command is:

WBADMIN START BACKUP -backupTarget:S: -include:C:

You have to change 'S' to the drive where you want to store the image. The image will be appr. 70% of the amount of data that is on C. Just copy this command into your Command Prompt.

Then you can attach the VHD of this image in Disk Management > Action tab. Then open the VHD in Computer and pick the files.

idk what you mean by it can b read.. it shows up in windows as drive (G) and the recovery partion as Drive (F)
but it says it has to be formatted bfore i can use it ..

Looks like it is corrupted. An image of a corrupted partition is just as bad as the corrupted partition itself. Try with my 'Emergency Kit" that was linked above. Linux is often less fuzzy.

okay .. i was confused with the emergency kit becuase it looks like a operating system and not a program .. i have Ubuntu which is a type of linux already .. do i still need too get that one also? or is there a program on linux i can just get for Ubuntu?

Ubuntu would be fine. My emergency stick is just an Ubuntu derivative called Mint.

0h okay .. i just have slow internet and downloading mint is 900 MB so it would take forever .. what programs do you use on mint?

I don't use any particular program in Mint. It is just the basic OS functions. Watch the video under Point 4 in the tutorial and you will see. It should be similar in Ubuntu.

also when i try recuva and select the drive it says error not accessible data error (cyclic redundancy check)

If it is a hardware problem, you are out of luck. Try to run a chkdsk /r
