Hard drive showing less space than I actually have

I have a Seagate 7200.12 Barracuda 1tb drive. If I go into my drive and highlight all items, including hidden ones, it shows up at 392gb, which should be give me approximately 540gb left. However, if I click properties of my drive, it shows that I only have 14.9gb left. I already tried the whole shadow drive and it was originally set at around 250gb, now I've changed it to 15% of my drive, but the amount of free space remains the same. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

hey thanks for the response, i attached an image of the diskdetective that shows about 421gb of used space, and yet my computer still says 14gb/931gb free. So what do I do now? Thanks a lot. It's my I:/ drive.

i understand how my 1tb drive is only 931gb but i'm missing about 500gb from my hard drive.

I have the same problem with my win7 c drive. It says its full from my pc in explorer but when I do a scan with a different software it tells me that only 23GB of the 40GB is occupied. Any solutions?

hey akill2 i actually fixed my problem by using the problem windirstat. it showed what was eating up my hard drive space and it turned out to be that I was storing my Windows backup on my I drive. Try that.
