Hardware reserved getting ridiculous

Hi

I have been surfing through these forums and everybody seems to be having these problems with hardware reserved memory but they mostly are talking about having 4 gigs of ram and only being able to use 3 of it or something like that. Now my friend has this problem where his 32 bit windows 7 has 3 gigs of ram and 2,5 of it is reserved for hardware! The computer runs slow as hell all of a sudden and thats when I noticed this.

What can be done about it? This seems to hamper the operating of the whole system.

Can you provide full system information about your friend's machine? Specifically we require the make and model number of the motherboard, but as much detail as possible would be helpful.

Ok, I was told his computer has the following parts:

Mainboard: Eton (Foxconn) (I have no idea what this is, never heard of it. He said there isn't any number following the name)

Processor is a Celeron at 2,4 Ghz and the GPU is a Geforce G 210. There is loads of free space on C:, and the system worked like a miracle until a few days ago the machine would not boot. Force shut down, and after that the machine has been slow as heck. What is strange is that if Windows is booted in Safe Mode it runs fluent.

Emsisoft, Spybot etc can't find any malicious software.

I was mainly interested in this case because I could not find out what made the computer so slow but now I'm thinking it might be the lack of free memory, as most of the memory is reserved for hardware. Should I check the BIOS if there is something about memory allocation? And as stated Im not familiar with Windows 7, so I don't really understand why all the memory is reserved for hardware and what that means.
