Yes ir certainly does Larry I don't think they are as good as they are made out to be. I have run Kaspersky ISS for going on five years now and although the ratings are always at the top or very near the on call scans by MBAM and SAS always pick up the odd bits and pieces - not a lot but all the same some.

This is why I love my Chromebook because it runs Chrome OS and runs as a sandbox it doesn't even need an AV really. The Chromebook boot times and general performance as a laptop I find is much better than others I have tried and I don't have to worry about adware, malware or viruses and picking an AV, scanning and all the other pains that come with AV software.

...except with some of my larger (and more expensive) programs and/or hardware drivers, such as Adobe Acrobat (not reader), Finale (music notation software), and my ADF scanner and color laser printer.

As others have mentioned, PUPs aren't that big of a deal as long as one pays attention when downloading and installing freeware (and some commercial software as well).

Did you try wine? Also, you could always have windows in a vm on linux. Only launch the vm when you need windows specific things.

Agree with that Andrew have got mine set up on a stick and have just got to get used to it but knowing it is safer is peace of mind eh?

Yes but I don like the taste and I don't drink anyway. All seriousness aside, I've never bothered with it since Win 7 works just fine and dandy for me (why fix something if it "ain't broke"?) so I never tried Linux. I have read on the forums for Finale products that Wine is hit and miss at best and a total flop at worst for Finale and the "child" programs.

Yep I meant to say as we were obviously typing at he same time Wolfgang has a very good sub tutorial in the imaging with Macrium tutorial at around post #1150 I think it is on setting that VM up.

Good info, thank you for posting.

I dropped a couple of programs I used for a long time because they went to the "my way or the highway" approach when it came to PUP's. They stated you will install this PUP, or you will not use this program.
