Hauppauge 1950 Analog Goes Stupid

I have four HTPC setups here at home. One is a Windows 7 BeyondTV system with two Hauppauge 1950 USB hybrid tuners for analog and digital cable. The other three are all Windows 7 Media Center systems, with two of them having a 1950 tuner for analog and digital. The fourth MC7 machine has a Hauppauge 2250 PCIe dual-hybrid tuner for analog and digital. There are four HDHomeRun QAM tuners sprinkled around.

Yesterday, both MC7 systems with Hauppauge 1950 tuners could no longer recieve analog channels. The BeyondTV system with the same model tuner, as well as the MC7 system with the somewhat different analog tuner were working OK. It's just the MC7 systems with the same analog tuner that went stupid. I've powered down and rebooted, as well as swapping 1950 boxes around. Nada!

So after nearly a year of faithful service these Hauppauge 1950 tuners in MC7 systems will no longer receive an analog signal. The pair of 1950 units on the BeyondTV systems are fine, and the 2250 in the MC7 system is fine for analog. Both offending 1950 tuners will recieve QAM just fine. All drivers are the most recent.

I have not tried starting over with a fresh install, or even re-installing the tuners. That may be next.

Suggestions?

Bye.

Thanks for the reference. Not quite the problem I'm having, but I might try resetting my 1950 while the system is running. I've tried resetting it when the system is off several times to no avail. The real puzzle for me is why have these two MC7 systems been working fine for many months and then both decide to malfunction at the same time in the same way. It makes me think that some Microsoft update to W7 or MC7 is the culprit.

Bye.

I find that for some reason my cable provider is not synchronizing the signal very well, my Vizio HDTV, which has both a digital and analog tuner, as does my VCR/DVD combination and the Hauppauge tuner which has both analog and digital drops the signal or loses channel ID at times necessitating the need to resynch for channels all over again. My provider is Time Warner and they have been moving facilities as well as upgrading different incoming/outgoing signals to digital. Don't know if this is similar in any regard but it has been happening here in ME for the past 4 months.

I appreciate your input. As stated in my original posting, I have two other HTPC boxes where the analog cable works fine. The difference here is that one is an MC7 box with a PCIe Hauppauge hybrid tuner (2250) and the other MC7 box has two of the offending model Hauppauge 1950 tuners, however, it's a BeyondTV server. The common thread here is that a HTPC with MC7 will not work anymore with the analog part of a Hauppauge 1950 (USB 2.0), but will work with a Hauppauge 2250 (PCIe).

To add some fun to the mix, that same BeyondTV server that likes the Hauppauge 1950 so much, will no longer work reliably with a SiliconDust HDHomeRun. I put the HDHR boxes I had there on two MC7 boxes where they work very well, but not with a Hauppauge 1950. I have to keep a scorecard with which tuner works with which software and with which box. It's a little crazy making (ask my wife). For many months MC7 liked the Hauppauge 1950, and BTV liked my HDHR boxes for more than a year. I think the bits are wearing out, or it could be an accumulation of hysteresis dust on the framus. It could even be that my A-frame has fallen out which cost over $1,000,000.00 to replace. :zip:
