Just recently I have had to re-install my network drivers in order for my internet to work.
I have two NIK's onboard the MB I thought had given out so I installed another in a available PCI slot.
They work if I go into Device manager and remove them, then scan for new hardware, the drivers automatically install and it works, but when I reboot they no worky until I do the above step.

My info

Windows Seven Ultimate
Asus A7N8X-E
Onboard Nik's Marvel Yukon Gigabit and NVidia nForce
Added to PCI slot Realtek
AMD Athlon 3200+ (Oldie but it's my back-up Machine)
2 GB RAM
Verizon Fios

My laptop which connects wireless always works without a problem

Any thoughts

Mark

Thanks for the response, I had driver version 11.0.5.3 and updated to 11.41.4.3 dated 4/12/2011 with the same results:(

Since you only need 1, correct me if im wrong, why dont you remove or disable the pci one, and see if that fixes the problem or vice versa if I missed something - the pci is the most likely to be causing the problem - can you find a driver for it - you could try here or post its details - Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

So its back to the motherboard marvell - was the pc working before at some stage and the problem only occured recently? - a system restore should fix it if it was - perhaps updates or some program you have installed lately is responsible.

Have you looked in event viewer to see what the error message is? Control panel - adminstrative tools -event viewer

Has something Changed with the laptop?

You only need to disable a device in device manager to remove it from the system - i thought you were worried about doing that so i also suggested removing it - well at least its not it in duplicate - however, since im assuming it was working before it means its not really necessary to reinstall it except it might foul up a system restore if its not onboard.

Nothing has changed with the laptop, it connects wireless and has always connected and working fine. I can hard wire my laptop instead of wireless and it connects fine.

I've since discovered that I don't have to remove and re-install the driver- I can disable and enable the driver through Device manager and it will work again.

I've looked at event viewer since you've mentioned it but its so involved I don't know where to look. I don't see anything related to Network adapter drivers.

You could try installing the xp driver (Marvell LAN Driver V6.28) in compatibity mode with xp - uninstall the other driver first -
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download A7N8X-E Deluxe

To install a driver/program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with xp - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

If it doesnt fix it reinstall newer driver.

PS READ YOU MESSAGE with the workaround - at least thats something if this doesnt work.

* you will have to unpack this driver to see if it has a 64 bit version of w7 in the read me file otherwise its a waste of time trying to install it - if you used a 32bit version of w7 with the Asus A7N8X-E (main computer) it should be ok.

Would not install, tried it as admin in compatibility mode and the standard way with same results

Any idea how to write a batch file to Disable then enable this drive and drop in my startup folder.

Have you considered the vice versa theory and disable the marvell lan in the bios or device manager and try just using the card.

Thought so, as its a prehistoric card also. Good luck with the batch file - your lucky in a way with a workaround that can be improved hopefully - as thats a pretty old machine.
