I recently updated the wife's laptop from XP to Win 7 HP 64bit. After getting all the drivers straight and installing Avast! I looked at the updates. There were 48. I looked them over and let it rip. After they all finished OK and the system rebooted it gave me 3 more. After they finished I got 2 more. They looked like updates to the updates. I figured if it crashes I would just reload. If I had been in the OP's situation I would have done an Image and then let them rip, but hell I'm retired and have plenty of time to mess with it.

Thats great, but I don't have anymore PC's to upgrade. 
Over 50 updates is asking a lot for somebody to do a clean install. I was amazed they all went in together without a problem. I was waiting for the PC to smoke or something.
