ok i have a compaq presario cq57-339wm, intel celeron b800 1.50ghz 2 core, windows 7 ultimate 64x 6gb ram (2gb stock - 4gb from another hp laptop) when ever i try to set msconfig advanced boot too use all available ram while also setting to use both cpu cores i end up with a result of my pc being unstable in several aspects,
like booting take almost twice as long programs seem more slugish while also when trying to play KSP seems too like the extra ram that the system allocates for itself given that i only get an extra 5 fps with a 135+ part space craft. soo as to why my laptop doesn't like having the ram allocation set manually idk soo im stuck having windows 7 do whatever it wants with the ram and having youtube video's de-synched and choppy when ever i start a new one if there is any info or advice anyone can provide it would realy! help been having this problem for almost a year now thanks!

As far as I know, in "boot, advanced options", the number of processors should be left unchecked and the maximum memory should also be left unchecked.

What is your source of information that says otherwise?

For normal operation all options in the msconfig program should be unchecked. This will allow use of all memory and all CPU cores. The options are used to limit usage to a specific amount of RAM or number of CPU cores. This is for diagnostic and testing purposes, not normal operation. Much misinformation has been written about this.

Start with that and report how it goes.
