I know this was addressed and not resolved about a year ago. If there is another thread about this issue please let me know.

Had to replace my Samsung monitor with a new Samsung SD590_S27D590P. The older monitor was connected to my ATI video card via DVI. New unit required HDMI which my video card also uses. So, all is fine except the text EVERYWHERE basically is out of focus or just plain hazy. I have tried clear type, and I have gone into APPEARANCES to uncheck everything one at a time. To no avail. So I am looking for ideas to solve this one. Very annoying for sure.

I have a second HDMI cable plugged into the monitor as position 2 for TV input. I just thought of swapping the cables around Who knows.

So, help please.

I have no idea if this is related. But my Laptop is prone to hazy text. The thing that improved it the most was color calibration of the video card. Most especially the Gamma setting. The text was so blurry I had to use dark themes in forums just to read them easily. Now it's still not as sharp as my old Desktop with VX900 CRT monitor. But it is usable with normal themes.

I would search your video card and Gamma adjustment and also color calibration. There should be instructions if that card lets you adjust the Gamma.

Update your video drivers, make sure the monitor is set to it`s native resolution.

Run windows update, a Samsung monitor driver will most likely come up, install it too.

I tried to get info from Samsung's website, specifically an Owner's Manual PDF but all I kept getting were error pages.

You'll need to look in your manual at some of the adjustments you can make. I'm referring to one called "Clock", "Pitch", "Fine Tune" or "Phase" or similar.

My ViewSonic monitor got out of focus text when I moved from integrated graphics to a discrete graphics card. It turned out that the timing was off, so a magnifying glass and gentle adjustment of my monitor's "Fine Tune" control shifted the text ever so slightly side to side, enough so that I was able to get characters that were one pixel wide to fit exactly into one vertical column of pixels. Now it's razor sharp.

Take a look here: LCD monitors: Clock/Pitch and Phase controls

Okay, here's the manual: http://media.datatail.com/docs/manual/191550_en.pdf
Try the Sharpness adjustments on page 37.
There's another Fine Sharpness control adjustment on page 48, but if you're using HDMI, it may not be available.
I'd also look at the PC/AV selection mode on page 62.
