HD 4870 worth £80/$125.212?

I'm unsure whether it is worth it for this time, any help?

It is worth it, yes. But its quite old, so I would choose HD 5770 instead, it's in 40nm technology, uses less power and its a lot cooler than 4800 series. The preformance and prices are almost the same.

I have a budget of £90 so that's too expensive for me, & i'm going to leave my case open from the side so it should be cooler :)

The 4870 will only support DX 10.1 whereas the 5K series has DX11 support.
And, as mentioned will use a bit more power.

However, the 4870 should be just as good for gaming, if not better for some titles.

Is it worth it? I would say yes if no DX11 support doesn't bother you. it is still an excellent gaming card especially if the price is right.

The 4K series arent that old ...

Well i'm currently looking for a job, so in the future I might pickup a card from the 5000 series. Doubt that will happen because i'm entering some serious education, as i've just finished secondary school, or as Americans call it, high school :)

I'd say absolutely yes that it is worth it. It will do the same job as any regardless of value, you will actually be getting more for your money if you discount dx11 because it'll play almost every game, near enough maxed out, you'll still get a while out of it.

Processors an graphics cards are far more advanced than the software we run on them.
