For years this has been bothering me.
The activity light for hard drive on the front of the computer case blinks in a pattern.. blink...blink...blink...blink...
The only way I got it to stop (and it took a while to figure it out) was to disable the DVD drive in device manager.
Start-rt click My Computer- manage- device manager- DVD/CD ROM drives (Disable one showing).

Why does it consistently blink?

I remember something about power management, I remember something about auto play.

I'm on high power, nothing turns off, max cpu etc.

Is there a way to enable and not have the HD Case light blink ... blink... blink...?

Hello 7Forever, and welcome to Seven Forums,

You can unattach the HDD LED cable from your computer's motherboard, should you desire. However, you will no longer have that diagnostic in the event of any future boot failure.

Hope that helps.

Hi Banyarola,

And while you're at it don't forget to cover your webcam lens for privacy but don't use tape...The residue damages the lens.

You would be very surprised how many people don't remember to do this. In my opinion, this is a MUST.
