HDD not booting Toshiba l770

And I'm back again, so now it won't boot because the default boot device is missing, presume this is normal and I need to boot from the bios. Or maybe this wasn't supposed to happen? Either way, now what.

Hope I didn't miss an important step, I mean the idea was simply to clone the old drive to the new. Actually thinking about it it's probably just asking me to put a Windows 10 or 7 disk in Right?

You can't just clone the old drive into the new one.
New hardware requires new drivers that isn't on the old drive.

Did the new came with Win 10?
What are the hardware specs of the new computer?

How did you cloned the old drive into the new one? Do you have a USB HDD case or did you attach the two drives into a desktop?

Came with Windows 10 home pre installed no disk, but I have another disk with win 7 pro on it, if that's relevant or would help in anyway. Hardware specs... Can't tell ya off hand, but I think it is an i5 duo, 8gb ddr3 ram, and can't recall the gpu, and it has 1tb data hard drive.

USB HDD Case. Specs are better than the previous one, with a larger HDD. Don't wanna phone up the the shop I just it from, even though they could probably fix it and transfer the files, it would probably be embarrassing that I'd knocked it up so soon lol.

Anyone, bit of a bummer this. How do you even access the bios on a Lenovo laptop, guessing it's the novo key but that doesn't seem to be doing much either

Look in bios and see if it recognizes there is a hard disk attached

Well, after booting into legacy mode, and it repairing and fixing itself, the laptop is up and running all programs and files there.
Still three things though:

1. Will I have to boot in legacy all the time
2. Device manager shows most devices unknown or out of date, dunno if it's a legacy thing, or if I just need to upgrade.
3. My USB HDD is still connected, and it may be running from that not my actual SATA, so... If I take it out would the system crash? Or is it really cloneed, guess there's only one way to tell.

Yes, you cloned a legacy MBR install. While it may be theoretically possible to convert it to UEFI/GPT there's a lot of work for no real advantage. I'd stick with the legacy boot.

2. Device manager shows most devices unknown or out of date, dunno if it's a legacy thing, or if I just need to upgrade.
Go to the Lenovo Support site and look up the drivers for your specific model, install the appropriate ones. I had to do that when I clean-installed W10 on an old Lenovo. There are some devices for which MS doesn't have suitable drivers, fortunately for me the W7/W8 drivers worked.

3. My USB HDD is still connected, and it may be running from that not my actual SATA, so... If I take it out would the system crash? Or is it really cloneed, guess there's only one way to tell.
Unlikely, Windows will not boot from a removable HDD. Anyway, as you say, easy to find out.
