Hello everybody,

I'll try to explain quickly the problem that I discovered. So I wanted to change external drive from GPT to MBR. So I had to merge G partition with the ones that are invisible (like small recovery partitions). I used AOMEI partition assistant pro and it failed. I installed Windows 8.1 to C partition and when Laptop turn on, G partition was inaccessible. Tried chkdsk g: /f (and /r too) It gave me that chkdsk is aborted master file table is corrupt. It was 53 GB data in 265 GB drive.
Did some research in internetd, tried to use testdisk and repair MFT, but it did not worked. And with testdisk was unable to recover data. Aswell did analyse function and then did write.
At the beginning tried Wondershare data recovery software, it did recovered the file structure and probably most of the data, but files aren't opening.
Did 3-5 hours scan with GetDataBack for NTFS - same situation, files are not working.
Did quick scan for bad sectors with AOMEI and it did not find any bad sectors..
Did not wanted to try HDD regenerator, because I think it wont help anyway.

Did scan with DMDE and was abte to recover files that open (demo version recovers only 4000 files) and R-Studio was able to recover most of the data (I hope that most of it) and those files are good, they open
But the thin is maybe somebody can help me to try repair MFT (master file table), that I could access the drive.

I have read all post in the thread Windows 7: Recover data from a diskpart > clean command. Recover data from a diskpart > clean command

And I hope there is a way to fix MFT in my situation, just I don't want to mess up even more.

Anshad Edavana posted (post number #104) the step by step what to do starting with Partition Guru, but the question should i try the same thing to do??

Hi Tomielis,

Give up on any attempt to repair MFT. I haven't heard of any one doing a successful MFT repair more so since you had manipulated the drive very badly which is beyond anyone's analytical capability to suggest a solution.

At best only commercial software can recover the data with file and folder structure.

Usually when TestDisk fails to repair MFT - I haven't seen TestDisk succeeding anytime - we recommend GetDataback simple free demo version and if the free Trial version succeeds in showing the folders and files intact - which can be ascertained by previewing files - we recommend buying it.

You can also try that( Not Getdataback for NTFS). You have tried other software like DMDE and R-Studio and if you are happy that these can recover most of your files maintaining File Integrity, then buy the one that satisfies your requirements and get done with it.

You will only be wasting your time trying to repair MFT and maKing matters worse if you still have any data to recover.

I would recommend Macrium Reflect, free or paid for.
Having a complete backup is easier and cheaper than trying to recover data with recovery programs.

+1!I've been using Macrium Reflect [and Image for Windows] for some time now, and the restores have been perfect. When Windows implodes or explodes bad enough, I simply haul out the external backup HDs and restore the OS partition; the Data partition doesn't give a hoot.
