Hi people,

I have Windows 7, and Asus MA478-EM. I have my D-SUB connection with LG monitor and HDMI connected to my Samsung LED TV (Extended). I've changed the default sound connector to HDMI AUDIO and when I play some mp3, video I can see the green sound indicator moving at HDMI AUDIO bar or even at the Sound icon at the system Tray. But the TV connected at HDMI only shows image but no sound at all. I've tested the cable with my DVD player and it works both image and sound. What do You suggest???

guiboos, welcome to the forums.

First thing is, do you have the latest ATI driver installed (currently Catalyst 9.11, and will install both the video and audio drivers)? If not see the sticky at the top of the graphics card forum for the download links. It should show up as "ATI HDMI Output" in the Windows playback properties with the correct drivers installed

Next double check in the bios (under Chipset-Internal Graphics) that the "AMD 780 HD Audio" is enabled.

Hey thank you very much!!!!
When I enabled the AMD 780 HD at the bios showed a new HDMI Audio option at the sound setup. I turned it the default one ad then the sound just came out of the HDMI cable. Thank you. But now, I Have these two HDMI audio out. DIGITAL AUDIO (HDMI) and REALTEK DIGITAL OUTPUT (HDMI). At the bios config there is an option for setting up the SPDIF out to HDMI or OPTICAL. But when I choose HDMI (at BIOS) and the Realtek HDMI option is enabled as default the sound bar shows the green moving led but no sound at HDMI cable. Do you have any ideas???

Use the Digital Audio (HDMI) option as that will be the audio chip that is with the 780G/HD3200. What is throwing you off is that the ATI HD series of video cards (both onboard and separate cards) use an integrated Realtek audio chip for their HDMI audio, and your motherboard is using a Realtek audio chip as well (my 780G board has Via instead for its onboard audio).

I think you will find that that HDMI/SPDIF setting you found in the bios is for the SPDIF port that is on the motherboard (located near the bottom right corner of the motherboard), and is used for when something like a Nvidia card that can also pass audio over HDMI (but doesn't have built-in support like the ATI cards) is used.

Anyway if all you are going to be using is the HDMI for audio you can safely disable the onboard audio (HD Audio Controller) under "Onboard Device Configuration:.

Nice receiver You have all the formats I have and I paid $900.00 for a Marantz THX2 certified receiver..

Is your computer near your receiver?

You can use the HDMI cable, the run optical through the receiver by assigning it to a different signal, say like AUX1. You;ll then get the picture and sound coming through you home theater system.

Except for the botton row Yamaha specific but mine includes dts MasreraudioHD

I jus bought two Blue-ray disksand that's what they were encoded with
