I have Windows 7, and Sony Vaio VGN-FZ350AE. I have HDMI connected to my Philips. I've changed the default sound connector to HDMI AUDIO and when I play some mp3, video I can see the green sound indicator moving at HDMI AUDIO bar or even at the Sound icon at the system Tray. But the TV connected at HDMI only shows image but no sound at all. I've tested the cable with my DVD player and it works both image and sound. What do You suggest???

If it works OK with the DVD player but not the TV it would seem to be a problem with the TV or the TV setup, not the PC. ???

Not familiar with your machine but some graphics cards require a separate audio connector from the motherboard (if onboard audio is used) or from the audio card (if not) to the graphics card.

On my GTX295 card that was what I had to do to enable audio via HDMI to my TV.

I had to do change the default audio device settings on somebody's HP laptop using the realtek audio manager in the control panel to get sound via the HDMI.

So you could try changing the default audio device in Sigma Tel Audio Manager found in the control panel.

My Computer

OS
7 Pro x86
I already try this: Control Panel>Manage audio devices>Reproduction and change the default audio device to Digital Audio HDMI, still not working. If helps now i see that even without TV connection the HDMI device can be selected.

I'm from Brazil, i dont find the sigma tel audio manager so i thought that the manage audio devices was he.

My Computer

OS
Windows 7
i change in devices manager the option show devices by conection and i have this result:
semttuloep.png

U can see in "Controlador de High Definition Audio" i have the HD device and a modem. What that means?

You could try downloading the Sigmal Tel audio driver/manager from Sony's support pages and run it in compatibility mode. Hopefully as the HDMI connection worked in Vista it should then be functioning again.

My Computer

OS
7 Pro x86
I make the download of the Sigmatel audio driver, and become worst, when i play a mp3 with the HDMI as default, the music dont start and give the message that dont have a audio device on.

It sure is a driver-related problem. I've never had hdmi audio on my monitor with XP and 7 (32bit). I've been trying so hard changing drivers, cables and everything but never succeeded. One day I decide to switch to Windows 7 (64bit) and after the installation there was sound coming from my monitor and I was scared... well... scared but happy to finally have HDMI audio on my monitor :D

Conclusion : I have HDMI audio on monitor with Microsoft original drivers installed and Nvidia drivers (no need to download Realtek's, it works fine like this and I dont' want to screw up adding drivers I don't need), but only on 64bit OS. I don't even use drivers for my monitor, I left the Microsoft generic monitor driver installed as it works great. Therefore, I'd suggest you try changing your graphic card driver, the latest one or maybe a previous version.

I will try to change the drive of the video card, but everywhere I look, the one that I can install is what I'm using. I will try to force the update, then comment on the results.

If anyone knows where to look for video drivers, the ID is my:

PCI \ VEN_10DE & DEV_0426 & SUBSYS_9005104D & REV_A1
PCI \ VEN_10DE & DEV_0426 & SUBSYS_9005104D
PCI \ VEN_10DE & DEV_0426 & CC_030000

and I am using windows 7 x64.

We need to know the name and model of the video card.

Click Start and type msinfo32.exe in the search box then press ENTER.

In the windows that pops up you have to click Display under Components, in the left pane. In the right pane you will see the full name of your card. Sorry if I can't post a pic of where it is but mine is in italian and it might confuse :)

P.S. You should fill out your System Specs, it helps a lot in these cases where someone who's trying to help need info about your machine.

Sorry, i forget to put this part, the name is GeForce 8400M GT. I get the new driver off nvidia, have compatibility with my video card, but no install, i think because the ID number does not appear in ListDevices.txt. I try to change but still no work, did u know how i do a force installation in a 64 bits windows?

I did it, was just upgrade the video card drive , and use the audio card default, thanks.

I don't know what an ID number is and listdevices, but it is strange that the driver won't install, it's a forceware you download from the Nvidia site.
When you right-click your desktop, do you have Nvidia Control Panel option? If you have, then maybe you already have it installed and it's the latest one.
If you have that option, then click it and a window will open. There you can click the ? button located in the menu bar and then System Information. You can see the driver version in the right pane, it's the first line. If you have the latest driver it should read 195.62.
It's the driver I'm using and my audio is working.
If you don't have the Nvidia Control Panel then you need to get the driver from the Nvidia site, you will have to fill in the fields and then it will give you access to the driver download, 195.62.

P.S. I don't remember now if you already checked, but are you sure you have a little cable with 2-pins connected to the video card and your motherboard SPDIF/OUT connector? Nvidia cards (8 and 9 Series as far as I know) require you to plug this cable in order to trasmit audio to the video card. This is a must, your monitor needs to recieve audio from your pc and since it is the HDMI cable plugged in, this task is up to your video card.

EDIT :

D'oh! 20 mins writing this reply and you were solving it, I was too late :p

So, now you can hear audio from your monitor? If that's so, I'm glad I could help :)
