Headphones In - And Yet, Internal Speakers Are A-Blarin'!

All right, so - let's get into it.

Essentially, whether I have my headphones in or not, my internal speakers are playing music. Obviously, this countermands the entire purpose of the friggin' headphones.

I have two speaker systems, when I try to manage audio devices - one of them is the internal speakers only, one which I never use. In fact, I'm not really sure what the point of it is.

The second one is the one that I use. Its sources seem to have both the internal speakers, and the headphones jack. As such:

In effect, it seems as though the obvious solution is to have one of these be the headphones jack, alone - and the other to be the headphones jack/internal speakers, which gives me the crisp playback I desire.

It so happens, I have no idea how to bring this about.

Help...!

What sound drivers are on your system? If you're using Realtek then you can separate the sound output and just have sound coming from either the external or the internal speakers.

MinMax, welcome to the Seven Forums.

What sound drivers are on your system?

None other than the default Windows driver, which provides just enough basic functionality to get sound. That is why there are nothing is working as it should.

MinMax, would help if you filled in your system specs, then we can point you in the right direction for the driver you need.

MinMax,
I second Stormy's request for your system specs so that we can make better recommendations.

UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |

in left-hand column, under Your Profile, Edit System Spec |

using Speccy - System Information - Free Download
and SIW to gather info, fill in the blanks.
Do me a favor and add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.
Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

There, filled some stuff in as requested. I think that should be sufficient, but - if not, tell me.

That helps a lot. Here is the laptop,

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Notebooks- ASUS G73Jh

As for what you listed as the sound card, that would only apply if you are using the HDMI connection and sending audio over it.

Next is the driver for the actual sound card. Asus shows both a Realtek and Creative Audigy driver. Next is to find which it has without installing one or the other till one works. Start with following this tutorial,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96442-device-manager-finding-unknown-devices.html

and using the link in step #7 you should then know which it is and can then download the appropriate driver from Asus.
