Headset Drivers are causing latency issues, PLTGC.sys

This is a problem that has been driving me up the wall lately with my headset. A few months back I bought a headset called Plantatronics Gamecom 780. I put up with the issues for awhile since I was in school and had no real problem with restarting the computer to get rid of the issues. But it always comes back and I can't seem to get rid of it.

LatencyMon seems to show that the driver that is causing this is PLTGC.sys which is the driver that comes with my headset, uninstalling the driver has no effect on it. I have no other visible ports to plug the headset into on the computer (2.0 USB Port in the front is busted), so I only have the ones that come with the motherboard in the back.

What type of latency problem are you having? If it is a latency problem. In recording, PC sound cards have poor latency and are considered poor for recording.

Have you run the DPC Latency Checker? The Resplendence Latency Monitor tends to go overboard some times.

Used DPC Latency Checker too, it just shows the same thing. The It starts out under 1000ms, then it starts reaching 16000 or higher. It's not just in recording. If I'm watching something on YouTube and decide to refresh my follwers page on Twitch the drop out in audio latency becomes very audible. I don't know if there are any other problems that occur since I just restarted my computer awhile ago so we will just have to wait and see.

As this is a USB device, the sound card does not come into play. The headset becomes the default sound playback device (and converts the digital audio to analog inside the headset). You can disregard the PC's sound card or other audio devices.

Can you run without the Plantronics driver? Will it operate with generic Windows plug and play drivers?

Doubtful. I had tried once and Windows Update kicked in automatically and downloaded the drivers for it again. I could try again if it might make a difference.

Just tried letting Windows use the headset as a plug and play device and it looks like my latency problems are even worse now. Watching a youtube video now just causes latency problems on its own.

Have you tried a different USB port? e.g. if you are plugging into the front, try a rear USB port. If you have both USB2.0 and 3.0 try one or the other and see if makes any difference.

Plugged the headset into the front port and it made no difference, sadly. :/

Now nothing is playing through the headset. I can't hear anything, I think I'm going to move it back to its original port.

Fixed the sound not playing by moving it back to its original port. I'm still open to ideas on how I can get rid of this sound latency problem.
