I am lagging as I write this thread.
My computer was fine 2 days ago.

I had an unusual slow startup since yesterday and when I am in my desktop screen. I was lagging every 3 - 5 seconds. Low CPU load, low physical memory usage. But I was lagging so badly that I have to wait so long.

I've scanned my computer using Avast! and Malwarebytes' but both returned with no viruses/malwares. Therefore, I need some help from people in this forum.
P.S ; My ATI Catalyst Control Center would sometimes disappear from my taskbar.

& When I'm loading my startup, sometimes I can't finish loading everything in my taskbar. It would stuck at there sometimes without the usual programs. I've tried diskcheck too, but it stucked at "Windows will now check the disk." and I waited for 1 whole day with no progress at all.

My absolute maximum latency is 883. What does that mean?

I did not see that you had scanned your system in SAFE MODE...

You NEED to scan in SAFE MODE when you suspect you have been infected. If you do not, then you will not find them. Viruses these days are build with stealth technology that loads when the system starts.

When your system completes the BIOS loading, start tapping the F8 key every second or so... you will get the white text screen with the top selection being SAFE MODE. IF you need to update AV signatures, use SAFE MODE w/ NETWORKING.

Or did you scan in SAFE MODE?

The other thing is that your HD could be in trouble. Make sure you perform a couple of controlled shut downs, and a CHKDSK /F (if your system is backed up that is) and see what happens then.

Let us know...

Test your hardware: memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes or overnight to stress test.

HD Maker's diag/repair CD full scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities

Google repeat errors in Event Viewer>Admin View to see how others have solved them. Also the Performance log on Advanced Tools page accessed by clicking the WEI score at Computer>Properties. Look for issues cued at top of Tools page, Generate a SYstem Health Report.

Run SFC -SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Consider a Repair Install as a last resort before Clean Reinstalling. If you have a factory install or in-place Upgrade then you probably need a clean reinstall to wiped HD>

go to task manager -- processes and see whether any unusual processes are running, which consumes most of ur virtual memory

I've scanned my computer in safe mode already. But I a few avast! error like this "The request cannot be performed because of an I/O device error (1117). What is this? Some files could not be scanned. I will now proceed with memtest86 later.

Okay, well I would say that you have a clue there.

Do you have S.M.A.R.T. enabled on your hard drive? It may be available in your BIOS if you are up to checking on this. It should NOT affect your drive data (in my experience, when in doubt, consult your Mobo manuals) but will report potential points of failure.

What happens with Malwarebytes? Similar IO error reports?

Also, to rapidly track down lagging head out to Microsoft's Sysinternals Suite and at least download Process Explorer. It will reveal amazing things about what process is locking up your system...

Keep us posted...

Did you run the Avast boot scan?

I ran the normal avast! Full system scan. & Malwarebytes' didn't show out that I/O Reports. Only the avast!.

I think I have written about the disk check thing before. I will get stuck in the "Windows will now check the disk.". Then it will not move even I waited for a few hours. Stuck at there with that screen. Therefore, what should I do?

I've tried everything except for the HD diagnostics. I'm not sure about what to download and I don't have a CD.
