Hi there to everyone on here, am new to this fourm, i have just purchased a compaq presario v5600 laptop and its got windows 7, now in device manager under the 'other device' section theres some drivers seem to be missing know as ' base system device' ? someone told me to visit hp website and install ' Utility ' for vista drivers (should work) i did this but still didnt work? :( are these drivers for memory card etc?? anyone can help on this please??? or give me a link to download these drivers?

Could you fill in your system spec in full or give a bit more info on the exact model number of your laptop, there should be a sticker on the bottom with the relevant info ;)

That's not a recognized Compaq model number, so look on the sticker under the laptop for the actual model number and search for drivers for Win7 on the Compaq Support Downloads webpage for that model. You'll want the card reader drivers. If not trace the actual hardware using Hardware Identification.

Is this Win7 preinstalled at factory or an OS installed by the previous owner? Does it have a COA sticker proving it's genuine Windows on the bottom of laptop, with a Product Key in case you need to reinstall it? If not once you get the drivers installed I'd save a WIn7 backup image to use in place of reinstall.
