I'm new to forums in general... This is my first one ever registered to. I don't kknow... But for some reason, I think i'm going to be checking this site often.

So - I'm running a legit copy of windows 7 (* Hrmmm). Having a couple of personal issues with the sound recorder. It needs a menu bar, a button... or something of that matter, to allow me to quickly record a new track. I can only resume my unsaved recording and start from where i left off.

Does this make sence?

The only "Fix" I guess you can call it. Is to have the program pinned to the taskbar... But come on Windows 7. I will not purchase a copy until you fixed this

Love you guys Windows ;) **** MAC!

Welcome to the forums.

I can't comment on your problem since I have not used windows recorder in any kind of flavor.

Perhaps download and give audacity a try...?

In order to do a separate recording with sound recorder, you simply have to change the filename. When you first start it up and start recording and then stop recording, it asks you what file name to use to save the recording you just made to. When you resume recording and stop, just make sure you save the new recording to a file with another name and it will be a totally separate recording.

But that said, I agree there are other better apps for this. You could install the free Aimp2 (which is a great music player) and the accompanying Amp2 Tools (separate free download) which include a sound recorder that is better, imo. If you try Aimp2, make sure to get the latest release candidate version. It is totally stable and much better than the regular (older) version. (Btw, I notice Aimp2's site is down at the moment. I'm sure it will be back up a little later on.)

Also Audacity mentioned above is very good. So is QuickTime Pro version (costs some money).

But for what you are trying to do, fixing it to the taskbar is not a bad solution. Thats what the taskbar is there for. Btw: I use WMCapture ( WM Capture - Super High Quality Video Recorder ). Works great for Video and audio capture - but costs a one time $40.
