First to say something about laptop. It's an older one but still good enogh for browsing internet, sending mails and do everyday tasks.
It's a Samsung rv-410 , Pentium dual-core t4500 with 4gb RAM DDR 800.And yes, it's Win7 Ultimate.
I wanted to copy some 3.7Gb file from that laptop to another laptop and decided to use USB (don't ask me why). I plugged USB in and started copying, and it said 4mins 45 secs at a rate of almost 15Mb/s.
Turned my head back after almost 2 mins, and now it said 41mins and current copy rate was less then 2Mb/s??
Pulled that USB out and put another one in. Same thing happened. It begins at speed above 10Mb/s and after 20 secs it drops below 5Mb/s and going down.
Tried both of those USB sticks on other laptops, and they worked as they should.
Tried to update chipset drivers, but no use.
Any body has any idea maybe?
Thanks in advance

It can be your antivirus checking the files before they are copied. Try to disable temporary.

Did you let the copy run all the way through? If so, how long did it actually take?

You can't always trust the numbers that Windows gives you as to how long these operations will take.

A way that might be quicker would be to share the folder on your network, then open that folder over the network from the other laptop. Then copy the files over the network.

I use Samba to share my data drive with the other computers at my house and with my guest session in VMWare Workstation Player.
Actually, I didn't try to measure the time, but noticed when plug in same usb sticks in a desktop PC, read/write is not dropping below 15Mb/s.
I don't know what to do else then to declare my self officially stupid.
Thank you on your time
Cheers
