HELP - bootmgr missing

Hi guys,
i'm a bit desperate here! I partitioned my C drive so that I could install windows 7 (which i did and was running fine). i then tried to delete the partition on which vista was still installed (my new partition H drive had 7 installed on it) I was googling stuff online and read that the Boot files had to be copied to the H drive from C drive. I did that and also changed the H drive to Active. I had to restart my computer and upon doing so, i got the error bootmgr missin press ctrl+alt+del to restart. i do that and i get the same error. I don't even know how i can access either operating system since that error keeps coming up everytime my computer is started. what do i do to get windows up and running again. and i don't have any installation cd of either win 7 or vista (i got a link to download win 7 and vista was pre-installed). any suggestions would be great! thanks

If you moved your boot files correctly, there will be no problems.

Boot to bios and change the first boot device to be your drive H:

Reboot into Win7.

But for some reason, I get the feeling it is not going to be that simple for you. When you speak of "drives," do you really mean you have one drive and many partitions on them instead? Otherwise setting anything active would not have been necessary in most cases.

Here's a definite thing you can do failing that.

If you own a license key to Windows 7 and have paid for it (don't do this otherwise or the Gremlins will pop out of the software), then I suggest that you can find a copy of the RTM build 7600 online and download it. Burn .iso to DVD. Place DVD in affected machine and boot to it.

Run a startup repair.

If you can somehow prove to me you legally own a copy of Windows 7, I can possibly guide you on where to obtain another copy.

If you can't prove it to me, running startup repair from the RC version of Win 7 DVD has an excellent chance of working as well. You do not need a key for me to tell you where to download this. It is free to the public.

Firstly, once I enter the BIOS and I get to Boot options all I see is Note Book Hard Disk, so how do I specifiy C or H?
When I speak of drives, it means that I partitioned C and formed a new one H so I could install windows 7 on it.
As for the authenticity of windows 7, I purchased it through the student deal that Microsoft offered. As of now, I only had the link which they provided. I was thinking I could maybe install windows 7 on am external HD and then use that on the affected laptop. But that failed since appparently I can't install windows 7 to my external HD. Also, I wanted to know how I could run the startup repair option when I am not able to access my operating system. Thanks for your help!

Alright, I understand your setup better now.

Forget bios since all your partitions are on one disk.

Correct, you can not install Windows to an external HDD.

Does Microsoft allow you to download another time? If so, you can burn it to DVD.
