Help cant install windows 7 oem no recovery disk wrong language now.

I recently dropped my laptop whilst in Italy and had a new hdd fitted at the local computer shop. They installed windows 7 home premium (using the activation code on back of laptop) but in Italian only. I asked them to change language to english but it was not possible. I have tried to download windows 7 from microsoft website but get the message 'The product key you entered appears to be for software pre installed by the manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery optons.'

I dont have a recovery disk so I contacted microsoft who told me to buy a new copy of windows 7. Asus havent got back to me. Is there any way of either changing the language to english or reinstalling windows 7 in english with no disk?

Use the simple free program linked under my signature to burn the iso file to dvd at no faster then x4 speed.

I have clicked on the link to mirror.corenoc.de Which Windows 7 home premium 64 bit to I download. I see 2 that look the same. 620851 or 676549. After i have downloaded the iso do I need to use that program to burn it to a dvd ?

Sorry Addram I didnt not see 58997. I have found it now. I guess I need bit torrent or u torrent to download. At the moment I have a blank copyof windows 7 with nothing else on my computer. When I Clicked that linked windows came up with a file association page and would not let me go any further. This is what I see.

The OEM Keys don't work on that site. It has to be Upgrade or Retail Keys.

I was under the impression that as long as it wasn't a OEM/SLP it would work. Such as a OEM System Builders.
I was also under the impression that the COA key on the Microsoft sticker would work.
Now Microsoft truly has me confused.

If someone had a Retail key you would think they would have a Retail Microsoft DVD and no need for the download.

I just tried my System Builders OEM Key and it did not work. Like you say if you had a Retail Key you would have the disc. I doubt if Microsoft would have a site for the one percent who lost their Retail Disc. The whole thing is very confusing.

I surly don't understand where Microsoft thinks they are doing with such a site except doing their best to shove people to W-10 when all they want is Windows 7.

My system builder key worked fine on that MS site.

OEM COA keys DO NOT work to download an iso file from the MS site.

Rich you have to have utorrent installed to download a torrent file

Install this.

?Torrent® (uTorrent) - a (very) tiny BitTorrent client

Once it starts downloading right click on the file in utorrent and set your bandwidth allocation to High and your upload speed to 5 KBps

Once it`s done downloading, right click on the file again, this time choose stop, click again and choose remove. (Before removing you can right clcik on the file and choose "Open containing Folder" and it will take you right to the iso file) as I said it should be in your downloads folder.

I just tested it and the X17-58997.iso file was downloaded in less then 5 minutes, it`s proper size is 3.09 GB

The iso file will go right to your downloads folder.

Burn that iso file to DVD with Free ISO Burner (the link is below) at no faster then x4 speed

Open Free ISO Burner then click open (circled) browse to your downloads folder and click on the iso file, then change the burn speed to x4 and click burn, that`s it, let it do its thing. When it`s done the dvd tray should open on its own with your freshly burned Windows 7 install dvd.

Just to put my two pennyworth in here. I have just downloaded "Win7_HomePrem_SP1_English_COEM_x64.iso" from the Microsoft site using my OEM product key.
