Only running these tasks the computer just turns off, all drivers are current and up to date, no hardware issues or software conflicts. i can stream movies in hd to my bluray player with no problem, i can play hd movies directly onto the comp display with no issues there are no issues in my action centre and kasp internet security and win defender both say that there are no viruses. I have had the computer on idle for three days now with no issue. Any sugestions?

This issue can occur by kernel portion components, such as a hardware device, third-party drivers, backup software or anti-virus services (buggy services). I suggest you perform the following steps to begin troubleshooting the issue.

1. Disable "Automatically restart" option;
a. Click Start men and type "Sysdm.cpl", and press Enter.
b. Switch to "Advanced" tab and click "settings" button of "Startup and Recovery".
c. Uncheck the "Automatically restart" option and click "OK" to exit.
2. Perform a Clean Boot
a. How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
3. Check Event Viewer Log
a. Click Start men and type "Event Viewer" and select the entry from the list.
b. View the entries for "Critical" and "Error".

From your post I am guessing that you use Kaspersky, is that correct? If so, I just had multiple problems with it on 2 separate computers and have since replaced it; problems were corrected after removal.

Clearly you do have either a hardware or software issue or it would stay on.
Couple of immediate thoughts.
Check PSU connections
Check CPU properly seated also graphic card.

What speed is your RAM set to, I'm not really liking that mixture.

The first option of disabling restart wouldn't change/fix anything about your issue. It's just been coincidence that it hasn't happened since. You've got some hardware issues going on that definitely need addressed. You should answer some of the questions in this thread trying to help figure out what is going on because it will be coming back.

Can you give us some more info on your event logs that show kernel power errors? It should be an event ID of 41.

Any other event logs around the time frame when it shuts down? Did you build this yourself? Have you verified that the thermal grease was put on properly and the CPU isn't overheating? You can check the CPU temps using Core Temp . Another good system info program is Speccy - System Information - Free Download.

recently changed the cpu cooler and used arctic silver paste. have dont core temps (that was the first thing) it holds steady at around 90 F-105 F I've been told that's ok. I have built it myself yes. Motherboard and processor came together inc the 1gb std crucial ram. the rest i have bought and built.

90 - 105 F is very cool. You've made sure that's F and not C? Have you made sure no paste has oozed out around the edges of the CPU?

Updated.

It appears that most of the errors listed above occured at the same time on the 27th (it's the most common date so i'm using that as a reference).

on the 27th i updated the graphics driver due to poor win aero performance but the turning off had already been happening. the cpu is clean around the edges and i have done the F c in in speccy which reads average of 45 in c and 105 in f

Temps look good, then. Are you sure that the motherboard or other components aren't accidentally touching the case? That can cause random power downs.
