I'm trying to search one of my drives for the word "director", but when I enter this in a Windows search, it just seems to bring up a list of every folder on the drive.

The same happens if I search "dir", "direct", or any shortened version of "directory".

How can I search for the word I want?

Try ~="director" or "*director*".

I prefer the fine program Everything.exe for my search queries. It has a TON to offer. I then ditch Windows search by turning off its indexing search which helps save on unnecessary writes to the SSD.

Everything will find text in files too, but for that I use FileSeek.

Thanks for the reply! :-)

Thanks but neither of these work. The first one returns no results, the second one just shows every folder on the drive! Don't you get the same result?

Thanks! I heard Everything was good and already have it installed, but I never use it, for the following reasons:

1. When I want to search in a folder, I find it inconvenient having to go up to the parent folder, then right click on the folder and use the context menu to open Everything. It's SO much easier just to hit F3 and type in the Windows search box.

2. I can't quickly search the Desktop like I can with Windows by hitting F3

3. I can't search drives unless I index them. Unlike with Windows, there's no slow option to search non-indexed locations. I'm not keen on the idea of indexing ALL my drives - it's very rare I would need to search many of them, and I don't want them all spinning up all the time.

Use 1080p and full screen if you can. = Loud audio warning =

If it sounds like I'm beating the keyboard I'm not. This mechanical keyboard seems to be one part plastic and two parts cement... Also, it seems this microphone is pretty sensitive.
