Hey all,

New member here, and very happy to be here. Several weeks back I got a virus, got rid of it (at least I think so) but when restored my Toshiba, some of the icons on my desktop, documents, video, and music were faded. Can this be fixed?? Thanks a million everyone!!

This is from another poster.. but although he/she managed to fix it uninstalling a program, I can't seem to find a program which would've created my problem. thanks.

Hello Clayton, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It appears that the faded files were set to be hidden. They are faded because you have folder options set to show hidden system files.

You might see if using the tutorial below to unhide the hidden (faded) files may be able to help.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I'd lay money that Brink is correct. The only other thing I can think of has to do with the fact that they are shortcuts. If you restored it's possible that the file path is no longer accurate, or was temporarily unusable.

EDIT: oops, just realized that it's not your screenshot, so this may not apply to you.

BRINK YOU'RE THE BEST!! yeah i right clicked on each and the "hidden" button was checked. Why did it check itself? Is it because I had a virus?

That's great news Clayton. I'm happy that we were able to help.

A virus could have set the attributes for them to be hidden among other nasty things.
