This is my first post so please bear with me.
I have a Dell XPS M1530 running windows 7 build 7100 32 bit. I am having problems with installing the correct driver with my Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS graphics card. I can currently only use the standard VGA graphics adapter or else my computer will not even start-up properly, Freezes at starting windows screen. I have tried installing the forceware drivers and have also visited NVISION.
I would just like to know if there is any specific driver that i need based on my computer type.

Thank you

Have the same XPS M1530 and GeForce 8600M GT setup as you.
I installed Win 7 64bit. Driver from NVidia did not work...
I went back to Dell and downloaded the NVidia driver for Vista 64 bit for my service tag. Works great now.

Try the Vista 64-bit driver from dell.com

This is my first post. I have successfully done a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on an HP Pavilion dv6800. Everything is working, but the monitor and video graphics are listed as generic. I have a Nividia GeForce 8400M GS card and am not sure about the laptop monitor. Nvidia said that 195.62 notebook was the proper software for this card. From google posts regarding the 8400M GS and Windows 7, I am concerned about installing it without further advice. I cannot find the post where someone was asking about PNP ID info and modifying something. Can someone help?

Welcome to Seven Forums.Try using the driver Nvidia suggests or the one on the site. Then using this Mobile modder tool it will modify the.inf file. Please make sure to create a system restore point first. Just in case you need to know how,you can just type create in the search box and at the top you'll see create a system restore point> left click it >select the drive letter> and create. This way should you have any trouble you can easily restore back to where you started from. Using this modding tool has been successful in the past.Just follow the instruction to the T. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/nvmodtool.php Please post back thanks.Fabe

faced problem on my VAIO VGN-SZ740 after installing win7 ultimate 32 bit. VGA, FN keys, BLuetooth, Mass Storage Controller are not installed. VGA is installed as standard VGA. tried few solutions including modified inf file. but it did not work. it says some file could not be found. using the setup.exe file the same, some times says can not find the appropriate hardware.
any help there?
let me know if further information required.

the VGA drivers I used : 258.96 , 186.81 , 185.85
also tried installing some items available on VAIO e-support site.
