Have you tried it as described in the tutorial Startup Repair (right click on the blue text and open the link in a new tab to see the tutorial), using the repair disk/installation disk; or from the boot options ?

I doubt that system restore will help you . Coz system is in the C drive, but the boot files are in a 100 MB hidden drive called System Reserved. To repait that partition, you are to run Startup Repair and otherwise you can go for a clean install with upgraded version as Seavixen suggested.

EDIT : Startup repair takes a time ... you are to give it the time required.

So its normal for it to take a bunch of time? No sarcasm intended.

Yes it takes a time, but four hours is highly abnormal. 7 to 10 minutes are the normal time, but sometimes it may take a few more minutes .

The procedure is provided by seavixen32 earlier in the thread ...

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

The tutorial is quite explicit in explaining the procedure with extra information provided in further links (these are the blue links) that you just need to click on to access the information.

Short of holding your hand there's not a lot more we can do if you are not prepared to make the effort and read the tutorial. :)

Failing that, do you know anyone who can go through the procedure with you? Just to say you don't understand will get nothing solved.
