help picking out a processor

i have no plans of going a full 32gb... yet, i will take the 16 imm puting in my curent mobo and move it over.

Ahh, check that it will work 1155 boards. Especially the board you select. You might end up with 10GB of no-go.

but one thing i did notice, this board supports sli, does that guarentee that it supports crossfire allso if i use a long crossxfire bridge?
"2 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, Supports AMD Quad CrossFireX and NVIDIA Quad SLI"

EDIT:

No - just looked at the board. Not for what you are thinking I believe. You'll also lose all PCI and and one PCI-e x1 with two cards on that board. There's no 'slot_1 and Slot_3' for extra air flow spacing.

On a plus side, my sisters getting a great X58 rig... I'm really looking forward to watching my former pride and joy being being turned into something shameful :(

At least I can wait for the SB-E revisions

Yea, my current rig will end up being passed down, reduced to Googling LOL Catz and posting on Facebook by my niece.
No more Video Encoding work for it :)

not much confused, i know exactly what iwant, but working it around my budget and feeling secure about where im getting it simultaneously, also, there is a bit of mis understanding on other peoples part on WHY im going the rout i am. i think the 2600k or 2600 depending on budget at the time and that asrock mobo i was looking at would be good. however, what im "confused" about is trying to get what i NEED and simultaneously stay up to date. i need 2 pcie 16 ports and would like 3, i need to be able to have 16gb of ram. i would like atleast 1 pcie 1 port. and i would seriously perfer an i7 and im on a tough budget that id rather not share cuz its changing rapidly due to other upgrades

Ok, what is your budget?
What programs are you going to use?
Are you making money with this machine?
and why do you need 5 monitors?

Ok, what is your budget?
What programs are you going to use?
Are you making money with this machine?
and why do you need 5 monitors?

im a 3d designer, 5 monitors allows me to run my different sub processes and view ports in different monitors instead of cluttering up one monitor. there is a possibility that this machinewill be used to make money, however it is not a steady income and i do not want this to affect my budget. i do pleanty of gaming on the machine, and i want that to be the ultimate focus! however i do not want it to be the ONLY focus. i liked this board because i can easily fit a pcie1 sound card, 2 pcie16 graphcs cards (when the time comes) and i know it will support 16gb of ram, i know i sayed 24, but i can cut myself 8gb if that means building an over all better machine. i liked the i72600k because it is most recomended for 3d development and will have the variaty i feel i need to transition to gaming quickly. so now i need thoughts, do you feel that the mobo and a 2600k are what im looking for? or is there a better route? i do not want to say my budget, like before, im in the midle of some other projects and this one may be a month or 2 off so my budget may greatly change in iether direction...

edit-2 gpus will allow for fastergpu rendering acceloration where 1 may not be as helpful. but like before, my second 6970 may still be a ways off if i even chose to go through with a second gpu, the posibility of farming servers is also a posibility.

i had made a post about an asrock mobo and a 2600k. im not looking to be the best, im looking for up todate parts with enough power to run almost anything i throw at it, my current pc can do that, so a leap forward i would think would do a great deal for me, the question is, from the stand point of a gamer, a techy, digital designer, do you really think im making that leap forward, one backwards, am i even moving, just as much so, in my position, cost wise, based on th links to new egg i posted, am i doing good on cost or would i be over paying on the wrong product?
