Ok, I'm here, what do I do about getting another drive? Shouldn't this be where I have a c-drive with 50 odd Gb and the rest on a D-drive?
Take 100GB for C as a minimum! Why not use whole drive as C?

It's just bad media. Why do you try to reinstall?
disk errors are not the reason for reinstall?
memory errors?

You're trying to install win7 x64 english. But is it home premium, professional or ultimate?

It's just bad media. Why do you try to reinstall?

So the computer was running slow at times and I thought reinstalling the OS and drivers from scratch would solve any underlying issues it had. Not my best laid plan, agreed. Now it isn't working!

disk errors are not the reason for reinstall?
memory errors?

no other errors, it was just running slow and occasionally firefox would crash and flashplayer would stop working

I did let you do diskpart clean (all stuf on disk is gone now).
DVD has bad media. But it's not totally faulty. It has done part of it's job. It was booted and did it's job....until..... a faulty file was on disk.

Ok, thanks for the help. I appreciate your time and efforts!! Sincerly do.

I'll burn the DVD and give it a go tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes.

So, burn the DVD, and
install a Clean Install Windows 7 again.

And you advise to leave it all as one big c drive, no need for other drives?

Thanks again!

Good luck.

I always advise to install OS on partition sized 100GB (or greater). Put all documents, pictures, movies etc on D. So it's up to you.

Too bad you didn't follow from the start http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 as Dell has valuable bootable hard drive diagnostics on the F12 Boot Menu which make it worth preserving the OEM partition you wiped, although all others should be deleted during the booted install to get it cleanest.

The stall at unzipping install files normally means bad media or failing HD. Try the latest official ISO for your licensed version (32 bit or x86 for 4gb of less RAM, 64 bit for more than 4gb RAM) burned to disk or stick using the tool in Steps 1 and 2 of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164.

If problem persists test the HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, then work through the other steps for Overcoming Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums reporting back progress as you go.

You downloaded the new ISO and burned it? You booted from that DVD and did the install?

You speak Dutch?

Check "device manager" ... devices with exclamation mark? "other devices"?
"display adapater" is the standard VGA thing?

Post screenshot if not all answers are NO.

Hah!!

Yes, I downloaded the new ISO, burned it, booted from it and that did the trick.

There was a 5-10 min pause as it started to extract the files during the OS installation, which is where it failed in the past. I wasn't expecting it to work and was in the process of readying to start screen shotting again, but it began to extract and worked perfectly.

No Dutch, just a few pleasantries from my travels there. Great fondness for the place and the people.

Thanks again!!

So just a bad image as I expected. 10 minute pause is quite normal.... don't know why. Saw it many times.
