Hey,

I am by no means an expert on all things Windows related so please bear with me :p

My laptop has a recovery partition on it so that if things every went "south" the laptop could be restored back to factory settings simply by pressing the recovery button located next to the power swift. Upon first setting up the PC I was given an option of creating recovery disks from this recovery partition which I did followed by deleting the partition purely to create space...foolish I know!

What I want to know now is can this deleted partition be recovered at the data from it be saved at all ? since this was deleted there has been various installed of different OS so I expect to be sold that all is lost however perhaps on of the experts here can offer me some advise?

Many Thanks

Scott

Can't you run the Recovery Disks you made? These should also restore the Recovery partition.

Back up your files and put the first disk in and reboot the PC, tapping the key given for the one-time BIOS Boot Menu, select DVD drive to boot, or another method: How to Boot A Computer from CD or DVD - YouTube

But you should be aware that the factory preinstalled Win7 is a corrupt install to begin with, smothering the OS with bloatware and duplicate utilities that have better versions built into Win7. That's why most enthusiasts prefer to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 following the steps in the blue link tutorial to get a perfect install.

Thanks for the replies, the only reason I was trying to recover the original system. Image was that my machine still feels alow and sluggish even with a clean install on it. After speaking to Lenovo which in its self was a mission, they suggested that the factory Os images would have contained optimal tweaks and driver enhancements to really get the best out of the hardware. How true this is I don't know although my laptop hardware is fairly good.

My cpu is an Intel core i7 quad core 2nd generation and my ram is 8gm ddr3, my machine is slower and more sluggish than my wife's core i5 duel core processor with 5gb ddr 2 ram..

What do you think? Are they talking rubbish or is there some truth in what I have been told.?

Cheers

Scott

You won't be able to recover the partition if you deleted it. That's what the disks are for. But even with Lenovo's idea of "optimization" a factory prenstall is always an inferior install which smothers Win7's native perfect performance.

Was what you did an optimal Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7? Read over the steps to see for sure.

The blue link compiles the tools and methods which work best based on countless thousands of installs we've helped with here since before Win7 was even released.

Once you start fresh, deleting all the partitions during install to have the freshest slate, and follow those steps, we'll be able to help you resolve any performance issues if they come up again. However this is extremely rare. But try it and let us know.
