Solved Help remove drive letters from my computer

The drives e,g,h,i,j have never been connected to any thing and I can not remove them.they do not show up in the computer management/ disk management

Hello madx, and welcome to Seven Forums.

These drive letters would be for each slot the your card reader has.

You could set Windows to hide empty drives in the Computer folder to have them not display. This way only when you insert a card into a slot will that slot's drive letter show.

Brink thank you for your quick response. I built this computer and never put a card reader in and up until recently those drive letters were not there. I think these drives showed up after I was using power iso and for some reason that I cant remember now in the program I mounted multiple drives. The drives were never there before and they aren't doing anything other than annoying me because I can't seem to figure out how to get then to go away. I did try to un-mount them from power iso with no luck among other things, I also tried option one in the link you sent again with no luck. I was not sure if my updated info would change your opinion about the solution or if I should try the other options.

If you have not already, see if restarting the computer will unmount them for you automatically.

What options do you have when you right click on them in Computer?

Hi madx,

Run Power ISO,then Tools > Virtual Drive > Set Number of Drives > Disable

Solution worked: PowerISO generates Phantom Drive Letter

All of a sudden a new CD ROM Drive appeared in the "Computer" folder. It was driving me crazy, because scripts were assuming access to that drive letter which was no longer what it was.

I found the problem and right after - found this thread! The slight hint was, the CD color of the icon was gold, matching that of PowerISO.

Function IS useful in PowerISO - mount an ISO image in situ without burning or unpacking.

Glad you could get hold of this thread related to your problem and resolve it..

Don't blame Power ISO stating that it generates phantom drive letters.. Creating as many as 23 virtual CD drives is a feature in Power ISO which you should have known when you installed it as well as how to disable those.

On a different note, if what all you want is a Virtual CDROM drive to mount ISOs and read those, you could install the industry-best Slysoft Virtual CloneDrive (upto eight). SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive ( I always have one running on my comp.)
