Well, we work, go to school, sleep, go to the movies, have lives. :sarc:

I don't need an ssd. I will do with HDD. For gaming I require 16 GB but I think 12 GB will also be fine.
I intend to overclock in the near future. Exclude cost of os. I didn't understand your rpm thing

IF you want to overclock you will have to get a Z87 board and a K sku CPU, i5-4570K.

No, there's not that much difference between an i5 and an i7, I have both and don't really notice a difference.

Single utilizes the ram each in different channels. Dual uses unique a channel for every two ram slots. Quad uses a unique channel for every four ram slots. This is the reason why you have to put in ram in specific slots if not all of them are occupied. The slots are arranged differently for different MB manufacturers. But most times, if it is dual channel, slot 1 and slot 3 are supposed to be occupied if using only two sticks. Most consumers need only dual channel. Quad channel is meant for servers and workstations where ram is heavily used.

Basically, dual channel is twice as fast as single and Quad 4 times as fast. Multi channel will access more RAM in the same CPU cycle.

Your PC will run fine in single or dual channel. Dual channel means utilizing the correct 2 or 4 slots. If you use just one slot, it will be single channel. Dual channel is faster, but you'd be hard pressed to notice the difference in most operations.

The RAM stick itself is not "single" or "dual" or "quad". It's the platform (motherboard) that determines that. With one stick, you are going to be in single channel, regardless. The difference between one 8 gb stick in single channel and two 4 gb sticks in dual channel is small.

So should I buy 2x8 GB ( dual channel ) or 2x8 GB ( quad channel )
Both configuration of RAM will have 2 sticks of 8 GB each. Dual channel will cost me 15 USD less.

No need to get fancy RAM with heatspreaders, etc. Just basic stuff.

I just built a killer mini-ITX build with a 3750k i5 and 2x8gb Team Xtreme ram at 2400mhz. Let me tell you this rig is blazing fast with its XFX 7870 gpu. Built mine in a BitFenix Prodigy case. The Team ram was cheap and extremely well made......love them !
