Hi everybody! I registered in order to get some help with this since Im unable to solve this issue by myself

So I installed w7 32bit a couple of days ago and I have tried to install the drivers for my NVIDIA 8600 GTS ever since without success. I downloaded several versions from nvidia and none of them work.
The weird thing is is that according to device manager I've an ATI X1200 installed. I tried uninstalling it and installing nvidia drivers but it still doesn't work.

Im clueless, since I have no experience in solving problems with my graphic card. So, if anybody got some tips and things for me to try, I'd be grateful.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome,

Right click on it in device manager. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste results here and please do not use a screenshot as alternative. We'll see for sure what you have.

The ATI X1200 is onboard video. You want to disable onboard vga in the bios and make sure your monitor is plugged into the add on card. Then install the NVIDIA driver.

But ya...lets see the hardware id strings too.

Damn I forgot, right when I booted w7 for the 1st time my monitor didn't display anything so I switched it from my graphic card.

Right now I attempted to plug it back to the graphic card but the screen went black again. And when I switched back, my device manager says that I have a standard VGA card/adapter(I don't know exactly what it says in english since I've w7 in Spanish, sorry). It no longer detects ATI X1200.

Anyway here's the hardware Id.

Follow my previous post well and your computer will be well.

Hi, thanks for your help so far! Im trying to understand how this stuff works and I tried to follow your suggestion but i was unable to solve it, maybe im doing something wrong.

I'm not totally sure on how to disable the Onboard VGA but i checked in the BIOS and now PCI E has priority as Primary video device, that's all i changed and I tried to connect the monitor to the graphic card but i got the same "off" screen as my last attempts.

Alright then. Fill out your system specs with motherboard model and as much other stuff as possible. We could help you much better this way. Use CPU-Z if you need to gather info.

If you haven't tried like this, then do so. Turn off machine. Then plug monitor into PCI-e card. Then boot to Windows.

Also turn on Plug and Play OS - set it to yes in the bios. Here are instructions how to on page 67.
