Help with 8024402C error and DVD now not found in registry

Tried to do the code 19 but didn't want to delete something that I shouldn't. Here is the screen shot-do I delete the entire upperfilter shown? Also there is no lowerfilter. Didn't want to delete something that I shouldn't

uninstalled avg, norton-couldn't find PC Doctor and Tune Up Utilities
rebooted 2x
used the Norton Removal Tool

Tried to reset but don't know how to get to administrator on the command prompt

What are you using GEAR software for? - remove the UpperFilters entry anyhow.

To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

The computer will find the DVD drive now but windows won't format a disk
Ill check out the GEAR thing now-not sure

Would the GEAR come with the computer? Is this something that would be used to make a movie?

Have a look in the Programs & Features listing - see if there's a reference there.
Have a look in Start > All Programs - is it listed there?
What is the exact make and model of your computer?

Almost certainly - if nothing else it would get rid of a lot of cr@p! You'll probably have to remove Bonjour and QuickTime as well (also unnecessarily full of garbage).

If you have any Apple devices like iPhone , iPod or and iPad you will need iTunes for backing the device up .

Have an ipad but don't know how to use it to its fullest potential. Right now just the stuff I use is going to google (I think) which is another subject Id love help on. I can try reloading the program again later.
Uninstalled the itunes and the PC doctor.
Im finding the DVD drive but Windows is still not able to format the DVD like a USB dirve which is how I use the DVD's

Fix problems with CD or DVD drives that can may help


If neither help, then please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command.

REG QUERY HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} /S

Hi-Im back and want to work on tackling the problem still. The DVD player runs but it won't format a disc. Im still getting the original error.
