Solved Help with AV and boosting my laptop speed.

Hello all you tech savvy people out there, I was hoping I could get some information on free AV and malware protection. I currently use Malwarebytes for Anti malware, and I was wondering if I should run an AV also, and if so what should i use? Any help would be appreciated.
On further note, im also looking to boost my laptop performance, it seems to be running slow lately, and I was wondering if there was something I could do to fix this.

Yes, run either MSE or Avast in addition to Malwarebytes.

What are the symptoms of the poor performance? Poor startup time or other? Is it slower than before? Can you provide more detail?

When I first got the laptop, it performed amazingly. Start-up time was almost instant, downloads were very fast, opening and browsing on my internet was also very quick. But now almost a year later its slowed down, it takes almost a minute and a half just to get the log in screen, and another 60 sec. to get to the home page. Downloads are still pretty quick, but not like they use to be.

Try this first:

1. Click Start

2. In the search box, type cmd
3. In the list that appears, right-click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator
4. In the command window that opens, type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

Report the output from the command window once it finishes.

See if You have some adware, that gets past MBam and Norton:

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

• Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
• Click on the Scan button.
• AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
• After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
• The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
• Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
• A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

Yep, a bit of adware!

Now, download TFC by Old Timer TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums and save it to your desktop.
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista/Windows 7 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.

Let me know if your computer is running any faster after doing the above.
